M19 Update

So i have my M19 Update now. I am looking to go Midrange Angels with control in blue. I would like to run the full suite of angels listed here: Lyra, Shalai, Angel of Invention, Resplendent Angel. The hard part will be figuring out how to get to cast them successfully. And control the opponent's early game to make it to mid game to cast them. The cards listed in my maybe board are cards i am looking at to use.

Playtesting

So I've been playtesting pretty solidly, and the G/U shell is solid.

Big wins over control - you are quick enough to get under removal/counters and anything that does stick to the board is big enough to win. A couple of times casting Negate on Settle the Wreckage got instant concedes.

Dinosaur and other midrange just can't compete with the speed you can throw down - turn 2 steel leaf just means they chump block while you are putting down win conditions.

Solo loss to mono red taught me to mulligan when you don't have any 1-2 drops against red. The biggest issue I faced was being behind the creature curve and not being able to catch up.

Carnage Tyrant is good enough mainboard. I don't know why people don't play it. Another 'concede' card when it hits the battlefield.

Rhonas is a big winner to with so many targets. I've even activated him with a Thorn Lieutennant and once with a Llanowar Elf with +1's on it.

Hadana's Climb continues to excel - Ghalta + flipped climb wins so badly it hurts. The +1 counters are just great - it means your 3-5 drops excel even more.

Channeler Initiates have been good when they have survived the almost instant removal they focus. And mid/late game coming out as a 3/4 when you throw your -1's on an unneeded Llanowar elf is pretty decent value.

Vine Mare almost demands to be a 4 of in this deck, but Ripjaw Raptor has been amazing vs Red ensuring I live to fight other days.

Sideboard will probably see some work depending on local meta changes now everyone has their decks together.

Well, turns out new Sarkhan is pretty damn good.

The gameplan has changed. No mana dorks anymore because we have a heavy removal package to keep the ground clear. Sarkhan helps us loot and ramp while Chandra keeps bigger creatures at bay. Once we start dropping Dragons the game doesn't last much longer.

Removed: - Bontu the Glorified Removed: - Westvale Abbey Added: + Expedition Map Added: + Read the Bones Bontu is still pretty shitty even after giving him a second chance. There is never a chance that I will fetch him with rector and having to sacrifice something to make him useful on defense is pretty meh. Westvale Abbey is an alright card. However you almost never going to use either of its abilities so the cost of its inclusion (being a colorless land) outweighs the upsides of the card. It's still a greedy cut though since you go down to 36 mana producing lands. However I hope the inclusion of Expedion Map mitigates it a bit Expedition Map has been in and out of the deck a few times. Since I made a bit of a greedy cut this makes up for it a bit. Additionally the deck really wants one of its sac outlets in play (Phyrexian Tower, High Market or if mana allows, Diamond Valley) or a Urborg so having the option to fetch it is very good. Also helps against mana screws by fetching Orzhov Basilica (which can also enable Land Tax should you be ahead of lands). Read the Bones is just an all-around good card that helps glueing the pieces together. Digs 4 deep if needed. Right now the current status of the deck is - Find a way to include another card draw effect that pays out immediately (in contrary to Phyrexian Arena). - Find a way to squeeze in a good dual color land. We'll see what C18 brings for the Esper deck

- Night of Soul Betrayal -> Gonti, Lord of Luxury (the combo NoSB/FO doesn't work quite well in this deck and I like the versality of Gonti. Plus recursion = multiple uses!) - Forbidden Orchard & Crypt of Agadeem -> 2 Swamps (those lands are underperforming, and more swamps = more mana from Coffers and all) - Beseech the Queen -> Magus of the Will (Non-instants recursion. Sweet) - Cremate -> Shred Memory (For just 1 more mana it can exile 4 and the draw can be replaced with the transmute. With Toshiro I can transmute and then use it's effect)

Sovereign's Bite removed from Maybeboard, just not going to run it.

Rakdos Shred-Freak replaced with Spike Jester, which does the same job but better.

Terminate moved to sideboard, replaced by Searing Blood

Faithless Looting and Duress removed from sideboard, replaced with Molten Rain and more Rakdos Charm.

Guttersnipe cut for being too high CMC and unlikely to survive long enough to pay for himself.

Shard Volley added, who needs those lands anyway?

Sign in Blood added for sweet sweet card advantage (or a really cheeky kill).

Nature's Lore can basically get me any colour due to the amount of dual lands I'm running. Cryptolith Rite was in here for redundancy in case Gemhide/Manaweft Sliver could not get out, but I haven't had too many games where I really needed the rite. FNM 3-1 Sadly was not good enough for a Top 4 5th Place Round 1 Homebrew (2-0) Round 2 Burn (2-1) Round 3 Affinity (2-1) Round 4 Tron (1-2) IQ at Comic Town (0-2) Drop Dredge (1-2) G3 I could have kept a hand of 5 lands anger of the gods serum visions. Turns out I was supposed to keep that hand ended up losing because of it. Mono Green Affinity (0-2) G1 my hand was slow and poor against Affinity but “in the dark” (not knowing what my opponent was playing) my hand was totally fine. G2 I mulliganged to 5 First hand I saw lands then I lost to a T2 Etched Champion followed up by 2 cranial platings
