Sideboarding in Modern Blue Tron

Modern Deck Help forum

So I play Blue Tron in Modern, largely with friends, but recently I've been having a great deal of trouble with aggro and tempo opponents - Several friends of mine have started playing Delver or aggro homebrews, which my deck naturally struggles against. I wondered if anyone had any advice for me about sideboarding vs. aggressive opponents? Here is my deck and sideboard in its current iteration - Please note the lovely Spellskite is new so I've not had much opportunity to test it in this form yet.

buildingadeck.

I'm not familiar with Blue Tron as I play GR, but how about adding 1 or 2 more Wurmcoil Engines? I also think that Oblivion Stone should be a 3 of.

In general Oblivion Stone is fine as a one-of in the U version because Academy Ruins allows you to access it whenever you like if you tutor it with Fabricate or draw into it/pitch it to Thirst for Knowledge - I also have Cyclonic Rift as an alternative board clearing effect. Wurmcoil Engine is in a similar position where once I have access to one I can recur it with Ruins, assuming no-one Paths it or something (which is why I play two copies). The Blue version of Tron is less powerful straight-up both early and lategame, but has more varied options than GR once it stabilises. Thanks for your comment though!

I play U Tron also, and I had the same problem constantly (still has the potential to be a problem). My solution has been Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. His minus ability has the potential to wreck any non affinity creature based aggro deck. I currently run 2 in the main, down from 3.

Ok, that definitely seems worthy of consideration when I can afford it. Thankyou!

Chalice of the Void is usually Mono-Blue Trons go to for these kind of situations. Some versions will even maindeck it because of how strong it can lock down things like Delver of Secrets  Flip decks. More expensive sweepers just leave you open for getting tempo'd, but slipping in a Chalice of the Void and then Repealing anything already on the board can shut them out.

A friend of mine splashed red into his U tron deck and mainboarded 4 Pyroclasms. He seemed to have better luck against affinity after that...

See, I would really love to play URza Tron, with Through the Breach and Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and Pyroclasm too, but unfortunately the necessary UR mana base is too expensive to even think about. I suppose pyroclasm maindeck could be possible if I used some eggs and Prophetic Prism though. Thanks for the suggestion!

Displacement Wave was just released. There's also AEtherize. Hibernation might help against green decks.

Chalice of the Void is on the list of things I want to add when I have the money too, but yeah I agree, it would probably solve all my delver-related problems.

I use AEtherize as a sideboard now, but thinking about it Displacement Wave looks stronger in a lot of situations I would side it in, e.g. vs. Affinity or Infect or something. Thanks for the suggestions!

For the time being, does it seem worthwhile to go to 3 Condescend and an extra mana rock, possibly even something like a Prophetic Prism to replace the lost scry?
