A thread where we post our favorite artwork for cards. If you are having trouble finding something, use Scryfall as they have everything listed.

You can either post links, images or codes if you have them available.

Below is my favorite Mountain and Forest. While many newer ones are absolutely amazing, these two hold a very special place in my heart as these were my favorites when I first got into Magic. :3

Long-time friends of mine on here will also notice that these are both from Dragons of Tarkir - my absolute #1 favorite set in the game. BIG. FIVE. COLORED. DRAGONS.

Mountain

Forest

Gotta be

And

These are, similarly to the OP's, two lands from the same set. In my case, the set is Amonkhet--easily one of my faves, but it's hard to tell if that's just because of these two GORGEOUS pieces being from it or not ;3

It's impossible to narrow down. There are dozens, perhaps hundreds. Perhaps some top contenders:

Most of my favorite art comes from the lands from certain planes. Lands usually give the best representation of what the plane is supposed to be, in my opinion. Case in point, see the Amonkhet plains that was posted above.

I have a lot of cards that I love the art for, but I'll try and narrow it down to my favorite planes and a few assorted others. Sadly, I don't have hyperlink privileges, so you'll just have to suffer with card links. lol

I also LOVE the art/designs for the five Amonkhet gods, but I feel like I've posted too many as it is. lol

Anything from Rebecca Guay, but I will use Mana Breach as the example.

Mana Breach

For newer art and an artist who isn't as as universally lauded among Magic players, I like the art on Archangel of Thune by James Ryman.

I’m “old school”, but I liked the Our Show is On Friday, Can You Make It? secret lair enough to put some money down for a delivery today….. I love the retro rock feel of them, haven’t really been “turned on” by any of the other Secret Lair stuff!

I love the original sets, with their painted and somewhat ancient look (especially with today’s standards)! Will-o'-the-Wisp is a good example of this, as is the original Mana Vault. Art like that still makes me feel like the cards themselves are ancient artifacts uncovered in an archaic dig site. I miss that old look. There was a Nicol Bolas Card from the War of the Spark set that had some of that feel, so the vibe isn’t gone!

I need to make sure I also reference Melissa Benson, as basically anything she did was awesome. Same goes for Margaret Organ-Kean. I especially like Margaret’s bordered cards, before all the fancy added borders in this last werewolf set ;p

I love the art that sparks weird f**ked-up banter, an bought people into conversation, and none has done better than my glove-sniffing compadre Grim Flayer

Dragons of Tarkir is also my favourite set.

I really like

It is such a great synthesis of art and mechanics, and I love how real the jolly goblin looks.

I also must confess that I find Daxos the sexiest male art on any of the cards.

Therefore, I like this image.

Wizards knows how to keep the lad loving gamers happy!

A little love and Daxos can be altered to Jason Mamoa. Even some brushwork on the Xiphos (the sword) can be made to look like a Trident and he can be altered to a nice Aquaman.

Abilities are rather fitting for an Aquaman, actually. Azorius combat focused. Exactly what the King of Atlantas is.

I've commissioned alters in the past. Think I'll do it again for him :)

And the Corinthian structure is common in Atlantas artwork anyway. Some background to make it look more oceanic...

Yup, I'm sold. Doing it. Emailing my guy later tonight <3
