Q: Why do vampires make the best necromancers?

A: Because they always kiss you on the neck!

They can discard. They can be huge. And now, thanks to Bloodline Necromancer, they can reanimate! Sounds to me like they have all the necessary components for a purely tribal reanimator build.

EDIT: Well... it kind of misses the point, but our boy Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord can also cheat big honkin' vampires into play - right from your hand, as it happens, bypassing the whole reanimator angle. Which is kind of a shame, but I guess Sorin can still contribute meaningfully even if you're digging up bodies instead. Oh yeah, and Ghalta and Mavren is a sneaky way of having a new high-water mark for truly colossal vamps!
