It was a mystery to me why the Mono Blue living decks weren't running black mana.

Using Watery Grave and Darkslick shores which will always be untapped turn 3 (earliest you can combo) seems fine to me. It opens up the possibility of actually casting the black spells if need be, and running fulminator mage alongside Field of Ruin for a nasty land hate package.
