How is the flail working out? I think the slot would either be better used on something like another creature like a mana dork to be able to cast the defiance a turn early, or to capitalize on your pumped delver with something like Miming Slime for a late-game contingency plan, or some form of deck manipulation like Index , it's a horrible card but its the only thing in standard that comes close to Ponder , so you can set up for a Revenge of the Hunted , ensure your delver flips ASAP, or even have an answer to whatever threat might be too big for the rest of the deck to handle. Maybe even Quirion Dryad though less than half the spells in the deck trigger her. Similar notions follow Blessings of Nature i see the card as not crucially a 4-of in the deck seeing as it's something you really don't want in your opening hand, as well as something you don't want to draw into while you don't have a creature out.

If you're running against a few red decks that sport such things like Mizzium Mortars and Homing Lightning you might want to run Tower Defense in the sideboard

Can I just say that this deck looks amazing!? I've been play testing it on here for at least an hour, and I SO want to build it!

@dragonpat12: Thanks! It's pretty cheap to build once you have the mana base.

But... with only 8 creatures, you'll be sitting on pump spells half the time, and any sort of spot removal on delver or sac effect on stalker will destroy you man. You need to add more creatures that fill the role or risk being a sitting duck most of the time.

If you really Wanted that third creature... Elusive Krasis isn't a terrible option. Decently large body.

But i've mulligan-ed down to 4 cards to get a creature with deck still won turn 4. :P

Also you can probably run 22 or maybe even less lands

@Goody: It's a risky deck, and I've run it with 10 creatures in a previous iteration (the 9th and 10th being Latch Seeker). You pretty much have to mulligan til you get a creature, even if you don't have the ideal mana. Like PrestonShackelfurd said, you can still wreck it when mulling down to 4 or even 3 if you have a creature.

I also though about Elusive Krasis, but you really can only evolve it once and it stays there (granted you can still pump from 0 to a lot). As for the land, I need the extra to provide colored mana since 2 of the 23 are colorless.

How well have the Wild Defiance been working for you? On paper they look like the weakest part of the deck since it is a card that does nothing by itself (it needs a creature + a spell to do anything) and it looks like it would be awkward to spend the three mana for it when you have a hand full of pump spells that you can use immediately. Perhaps it might be worth trying out Strangleroot Geist instead? Early game the geists can rush slower decks or trade with the creatures in aggro decks. Late game they would give you more resilience against board wipes (except for Terminus of course).

Ur Syncopates are actually kinda useless, I would replace them with Dissipate

poprocksncoke says... #11

@DaGabester: Point noted. I actually don't side them in very often, maybe because I subconsciously knew they weren't effective enough. I'll run Dissipates instead for a little bit and see if I have better luck. Thanks.

yea no prob. But the best counter spell would have to be Counterflux on account of their uncounerability (this is not a real word)

Counterflux would be great...but I don't have room for red unfortunately

Maybe instead of Blessings of Nature Try Increasing Savagery Cost's 1 less, Gives 1 more counter and 10 late game when flashed back

@GearOverlord: I love Increasing Savagery as a card, but it's not quite as fast as I would like. I know, +5/+5 on turn 4 is pretty ridiculous, but I look at Blessings of Nature as a 1-drop not a 5-drop since I try my best to keep it out of my opening hand, and that gives it the extra plus

It seems like might need more creatures as others discussed. Slaughterhorn might be a good option for this because it it is a cheap pump spell due to blood rush. It isn't as evasive as your other creatures, but with Artful Dodge the creature's natural evasion doesn't matter.

@Hakaput: The only thing I can think to take out for Slaughterhorn is Giant Growth and I might try a 2x swap, but I don't want the instant/sorcery count to drop much lower or else Delver of Secrets  Flip becomes much less effective as well as Wild Defiance having less targets for it. Thanks for the suggestion though, and if you have anymore let me know.
