I definitely would want to make use of those if I could find the room, PrecintSix6Six. There's so many cards that would go perfectly with this build, it's just hard to fit them all in. I mean, 42% of the deck is nothing but apostles, and 32% is lands.. That only leaves me 26 cards to work with outside of lands/apostles. :(

As a matter of fact, I'm actually running 3 cards too many in this build as it is. I'm gonna put them in the Maybeboard so I don't forget about them. Hopefully they'll make it in eventually! I need to test 'em.

And nice, Caligula! I wanna play against it eventually when you get it 100% built. I've got a few different brews I'd run against it. Have you ever used untap.in?

Just a site where you can playtest. It's pretty cool. Go spectate a game or two if you're curious.

Never thought of the Athreos, God of Passage + Shadowborn Apostle combo, that is just cruel!

+1!

Used to run a deck very similar to this until I got bored with it and stripped it for spare parts. +1 from me :)

You definitely need Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker and Griselbrand in there. I also ran Strionic Resonator because of how utterly evil it is with Lord of the Void . Also, since you're running a lot of lands (I ran with ~25 lands and used Crypt Ghast and Nirkana Revenant instead) you might also consider Ob Nixilis, the Fallen .

Caligula says... #9

I agree OB should be in here!

Oh, can't believe I forgot my favorite creature to tutor for when I played apostles: Edgewalker .

I definitely need to get Ob Nixilis, the Fallen in there. I can't believe I missed Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker . I don't think I want him in there now, but he would have been the best commander ever before Athreos was printed.

Griselbrand is unfortunately banned, he was in here at one point though.

Edgewalker could be awesome, but I usually tutor for Thrumming Stone .

Thanks a ton for the +1 and suggestions! I'm taking everything in to the maybeboard just in case I end up doing some tweaking in the future. Gotta do some playtesting to see where I'm falling flat first.

Nice : )

I like the Thrumming Stone + Shadowborn Apostle combo.

You have a lot of clerics, have you considered Dark Supplicant ?

...or Gangrenous Goliath ?

Rotlung Reanimator makes a 2/2 zombie every time one of your apostles dies

also a sac outlet like Ashnod's Altar might be good if the game is going long and sorry about the last comment i didn't see it on the maybeboard

Thanks for the comments, Max121212. I don't think Dark Supplicant would work too well, only because Scion of Darkness doesn't have too much of an impact on board state in my opinion. Gangrenous Goliath could be cool, but it's a bit expensive on cmc for a 4/4.

I'm trying to work Rotlung Reanimator in there, mcnagnog. I actually need to cut some cards as it is though. I don't think I really have room for Ashnod's Altar , just 'cause there's not many cards in here that require 2 colorless mana (except for the demons and a few enchantments) - I feel keeping the apostles alive would be more practical in almost every instance.

Are you allowed to use the Shadowborn Apostle like that in Commander/EDH?

Quoting the gatherer...

7/1/2013 Rulings: "Shadowborn Apostles first ability lets you ignore only the four-of rule. It doesnt let you ignore format legality."

Caligula says... #20

Max121212 I don't see how it isn't legal, It's the cards ruling pretty much. Unless there's an EDH rule specifically for the Shadowborn Apostle saying that you cannot have more than 1 copy in a deck. Untill then this deck is totally legit and SCARY.

Caligula hit the nail on the head, Max121212. I'm having trouble pulling up the exact link, but it does state somewhere that if a card's text bends the rules, the card wins. There'd have to be a specific ruling against it (I.E banned or restricted in EDH.) Relentless Rats decks have been around for a while in EDH as well, which are basically the same principle.

Just a few random, potentially synergistic cards to combine with Thrumming Stone and the Shadowborn Apostles: Mortal Combat , Death Match , Genesis Chamber , Minion Reflector , Suture Priest /Soul Warden /Soul's Attendant ... and you have to give Dictate of Erebos a spot, as it would absolutely wreck face. Awesome deck +1

Thanks a ton for the +1 and suggestions, babydaggers! I'm actually sitting at 102 cards right now. I'm trying to figure out waht to cut. I do want Dictate of Erebos in here, though.
