You might need a way to force an attacker through, so maybe use Apostle's Blessing to give you souleaters protection from everything and avoid blockers altogether.

Also you might need more draw to ensure getting immolating soulreaper out every game.

Gattison I added two Sign in Blood and two Apostle's Blessing. Should I add more of either of those?

Turn 4 just playtested, swung with a 20/1 Souleater for the win

Night's Whisper is better in multicolor decks, but is not as cheap.

As for more, I would imagine yes, but give it some play throughs and see. I wouldn't be surprised if you need at least 4 or more draw spells. But that's just me speculating.

Love the idea! Seemingly someone beat me to the mess that Phyrexian mana in Pauper is. ; ~ ;

Gattison it performed pretty well with the changes I’ve made but I’ll have to test it more and see. Thanks.

eatmygender Thanks. Phyrexian mana in pauper is the bestttttt

I love the deck idea, It's such a cool one! The concept is great, honestly I think that you're main two weaknesses are card draw (you tend to dump your hand pretty quickly) and removal in response to activating their sac effects. You can solve both issues with some Shelter, they both protect and draw; or use Emerge Unscathed for protection and then use something else for card draw, maybe Implement of Improvement? It also gains you a bit more life, though it is a bit slower. All in all, this is a really fantastic deck, I think it's great!

IndefiniteWin13 I definitely need to work on the card draw. Thanks for the suggestions

Aren't there better creatures then Trespassing Souleater? Like a rouge or somthing?

Daarkest says... #10

Flooremoji the Trespassing Souleater is meant to also be a life outlet to fuel Children of Korlis

Oh, got it. Great deck!

IndefiniteWin13: I like Shelter too. Good suggestion.

I think the sacrifice of swapping a "one-drop" (Apostle's Blessing) for a two-drop (Shelter) might be worth it. Because card draw.

This is one of the best decks I have ever seen! +1

Epicure of Blood is a real thing in pauper now. I know it's a 5-drop, but I feel I should mention it.

Gattison It seems really good but I don't know what I would switch it out with. Suggestions?

Gattison says... #16

idk, your curve is so low... Maybe start with one of the souleaters or an Exhume, to see if it helps late-game? You got no ramp, so regardless, Epicure of Blood wouldn't see play until T5, so it may not even be worth it in this deck.

December 13, 2018 2:27 p.m.

Gattison should I run ramp? I figured since everything cost so little that I didn't need it.

December 14, 2018 7:36 a.m.

Gattison says... #18

yourmumstraight: If you tried to squeeze in some ramp, you'd lose other combo pieces. What you have now seems to work pretty well, so at this point I wouldn't bother with it unless Epicure of Blood turns out to be truly necessary for the win and you want more than 1x copies.

Loved the deck and im going to build one for me, btw isnt Blinding Souleater a better option than Trespassing Souleater? It's a life outlet and might open our ways for Immolating Souleater attacks

Daarkest says... #21

Minhokaa Blinding Souleater most certainly does open up an attack, but I had the Trespassing Souleater because he doesn't have to tap, and therefore you can put as much life as you want into it. The more life you lose, the more you get back with each iteration of Children of Korlis

January 15, 2019 1:44 p.m.

Epicure of Blood does nothing here because of how it reads and how this deck works

You don't gain life from several sources each turn you gain tons of life from one source every few turns. I doubt you'd ever kill with Epicure of Blood tbh

What this deck needs is consistency and a way to survive till late game besides Martyr. Basically if you don't get a hand with Martyr and a Legion or Squadron you are basically screwed against most aggressive decks.

Legion also means you probably won't be using Martyr until turn 4 which even in Pauper is a bit slow.

Gaining life is great and all but you have no way to stop other board set up and only have 2 cards in the whole deck to allow your wincon to be anything but a big dumb beater

The Children of Korlis Combo is nice but I feel eventually most decks will win out as they can either kill or stall your wincon out till their growing board forces you to dismantle your combo just to stay alive.

The new Orzhov killspell Final Payment would be great here though.

I hope I haven't been too critical, I do love the deck Idea I just think it needs work

Aragon_Neotrix Playtesting it, i noticed that turn 1 Children of Korlis , turn 2 Immolating Souleater and turn 3 attack, with an Undying Evil or Supernatural Stamina in hand, u can gain tons of life and deal a supermassive damage on your opponent, and those 3 cards in opening hand plus 3 draws are very common to have. So the more you play with it, more u learn about it's mechanincs and tricks. The scenario that i created before works like paying life to buff Immolating Souleater , lets imagine 16 life, sacrificing Children of Korlis (plus 16), than paying more 16 life to buff even more the souleater, giving Korlis undying and sacrificing it again (plus 32), and buffing even more souleater (whaaat?!!). Yes, thats brutal. And we still have Martyr of Sands and all the other cards to play. I think its pretty consistent. (Take care with the stack, everything must be done in the correct order).

Btw i agree with Epicure of Blood and Final Payment , the second one might have a place in this deck for sure.

I'm in love with this deck Daarkest!!

Aragon_Neotrix, i'll start with saying that I need people to be critical if I want to make improvements to the deck, so thank you! Final Payment would be great but what should I replace? Also, the deck is fairly fragile, but like Minhokaa said, some draws can get you a bunch of life really early in the game, and most Pauper decks win through damage. Even if you can't swing for the win with souleater for the win, you can still preserve your life total. If he dies, you can start casting Squadron Hawk s and Legion Conquistador s to get chip damage.

Minhokaa, I'm glad you like the deck! I have put a lot of work into it and I'm glad to see it paying off. Spread the word about Sandstorm!
