Not Dead Yet: Mono-White Lifegain

Modern Lifegain

Instant (4)

Mono-White life gain with lifelink creatures and a midrange emphasis.

Once Rhox Faithmender is in play, the deck takes off and can gain so much life that an opponent has a hard time recovering. Likewise, Well of Lost Dreams can win the game by easily refilling your hand while you gain more and more life. Fetch lands are included to thin the deck and allow Landfall for Rest for the Weary, and maindeck Field of Ruin is there against Urza Tron opponents and manlands. Finishers are Archangel of Thune (or sub for Baneslayer Angel) and Celestial Mantle, but it's steady beats with flipped Lone Rider   and buffed Serra Ascendant that win the game.

The deck has the hardest time against linear aggro strategies that aim to win on turn 3 or 4. A nut draw for a Burn or Tron opponent is going to beat this deck, since it spends the first few turns flipping a Lone Rider   or setting up a big Martyr of Sands play. Likewise, a Jund opponent who leans heavily into discard or creature removal early is going to gain an advantage leading to a difficult mid-game. With no maindeck removal, opponents can go over the top with huge creatures (Eldrazi, etc.), which is where Blessed Alliance is handy to force a sacrifice (gets around hexproof nicely).

The deck stabilizes after sideboarding, though the board could use some more finesse.
