Spear of Heliod seems to be strictly better than Brave the Elements in this deck. Why don't you run two spears instead of one and one?

im guessing you mean the hall, two things: 1) i only have 1 spear and 2) they are legendary and this deck especially cant afford to lose a card to legendary redundancy. if i had more Honor of the Pure they would definitely knock out the hall since they are 1 cheaper and fire ethereal armor. the hall was clearly designed for non-white mono decks, but im at a shortage so ive got it plugged in here.

also wish i had 3 more Champion of the Parish so i could knock out the Sightless Brawler . anyone have any other good ideas for the brawler's slot? I know of Student of Warfare but don't have any. i went through my white binder and couldn't think of anything better at the moment. the key with the brawler is that a) hes got 3 power for 2cmc and b) he fires ethereal armor. the BNG/m15 cat soldier doesnt have his drawback, but has one less toughness and doesnt fire ethereal armor. i figure his drawback wont be much of an issue in this deck, but still im sure i can do better with that slot.

Yea sorry I meant the hall haha That makes sense. I have a couple suggestions to replace Sightless Brawler.

Knight of the Holy Nimbus I love this card. It is a 2/2 vs a 3/2 and he doesn't trigger your ethereal armor, but his flanking makes him better than a 3/3 when being blocked, and he is super hard to kill early game because of his auto regen effect, so you can pretty much always swing. Cheap to buy as well.

Knight of the White Orchid This card is sick. Extra land out untapped on the turn you play it if they went first, or if you get behind on drawing land.

Isamaru, Hound of Konda A one drop 2/2 is cheap. He is Legendary, so maybe put in just one.

I don't know if you sideboard, but I would suggest considering cards like White Knight , Hand of Honor , or Kor Firewalker in case you face black or red specifically. There is Grand Abolisher for control decks, and then there are more hate oriented creatures that would slow your opponents down like Imposing Sovereign , Thalia, Guardian of Thraben , or Spirit of the Labyrinth . But for those you sacrifice a lot of power and/or toughness for their effects.

I hope this was helpful!

definitely thanks! yea i love Knight of the Holy Nimbus , dont have any though. no kidding on Knight of the White Orchid , i hadnt seen that one before. it looks super good for getting that third plains and thinning out the coming draws. ive got a set of spirit of the labyrinth, but i was hesitant to try them because i had a bad experience running them mainboard at GP beijing this spring, weak butt made it really hard for them to get anything done, plus its neither human for champion or a soldier/knight for the war falcon. it fires ethereal armor and the archetype could theoretically help it attack, but it doesnt seem super good off the top of my head.

theres no sideboard listed because im not too worried about boarding for this project. i definitely set up sideboards when things get social, but this project is so extensive (im up to 22 simultaneously extant decks on my shelf that i run monthly tests on using the playtester here) that starting to worry about boarding would make testing take 2-3 times as long. to give an example, august round robin testing in which i ran all the decks against each other deck once was 210 total matches, so around 500-550 actual games of magic. yea sideboarding would be make it more accurate and true to competitive deckbuilding, but would get unwieldy right away. the process is more about learning about general archetype construction and the most efficient strategies available to all the color combinations.

this was mono whites debut round of testing. it did quite well in its first go round, finished 9th out of 21, tied with grixis in taking 63% of possible points (3pts for match win, 1pt for losing 1-2, 0pts for losing 0-2). this incarnation now is the first edit after its initial debut. im trying to focus on what i found it most effective in: turn 4-5 blitzes before the other decks are really prepared to deal with more than one or two creatures. ive upped the creature count and reduced the number of tricks because it seems like planning for mid game tempo battles is probably not as effective as just going even harder straight for the throat. that was the decision on Accorder Paladin . he used to be some Gods Willing and Devouring Light , but in testing after i popped him in, im REALLY liking how well he plays with Daring Skyjek War Falcon and Archetype of Courage . the brawler was an attempt to continue that idea with just more muscle. i really like all of the three you suggested for main board, i will compare prices with champion of the parish and student of warfare on taobao (chinese ebay) and see which one is cheapest and then i will pull the trigger on a set for october probably.

im particularly interested in this deck too because i find myself increasingly able to identify myself as, not quite a "white mage" but as a "white+__" mage. i love playing orzhov, azorius, selesnya and boros, but im really not that into aggro. when you cut the second color and play pure mono white, its hard to gun for those midgame tempo plays that i like, monowhite's cardpool is almost scooped around the midgame forcing you to try to either end things before it gets to that point, or sit way back and sweep and drop Serra Angel s like nobody's business. my cheap competitive sweepers are already in other decks so im gunning for the blitz for now.

Wow your play testing sounds extensive! That is awesome though, and probably really useful. I really like Accorder Paladin as well, and run him in my casual knight deck. It looks like you are trying to stay at 2 CMC or less for creature cards, but if you are willing to go three mana for a mid game finisher, I would suggest Frontline Medic . He will keep everything alive if it takes a couple turns of swinging. Ah I love taobao! I studied abroad in Shanghai for a semester last year, which was great. Good luck tuning the deck!

Yea pure aggro white is interesting. Not totally in color but it has some great cards for it. I just started playing a couple years ago, but orzhov was the first deck I made, and I loved it haha I feel like I tend to play white in decks more than other colors as well.

yea im trying to keep most things at 1 or 2 because i feel the land strategy is quite interesting/important here. because the goal is to simply vomit your hand and swing ASAP, if the initial wave fails or if theres not enough muscle in the opening hand, the deck has very little chance to recover. therefore, hands of 4-5 lands are totally unplayable, two lands leaves 5 creatures to vomit which is often enough to win. ive been slowly but surely pulling the land count down in order to theoretically increase the number of threats that get seen and drawn and played. winning while still sitting on 2 lands at turn 4-5 is very possible, any more than 3 and you have lost a bunch of cards that can get played. one land hands are actually winnable here as well, especially if a second one gets drawn by t3. this is one of the reasons im leaning towards Champion of the Parish and Student of Warfare

Yea I completely agree. I have a casual mono-red goblin deck and I run 18 lands in it I think. Just taking out a couple made a huge difference. And yea Champion of the Parish and Student of Warfare are probably your best bets for cost efficiency..

No I don't yet! I just got on here and have mostly built decks I want to create or am working on. I was just thinking I needed to put it up though, so I will let you know when I get it finished if you want!

Here is my goblin deck as I am currently trying it. Where is the Goblin Lord? I just added in Goblin Rabblemaster and have been play testing it on here, but havn't actually bought any yet. I went back up to 20 mana since rabblemaster is a 3 drop in addition to my other 3 drop in the deck.

I just remembered Honor the Pure. It is one cheaper than the hall and the spear if your just looking for the +1/+1.
