Maze's End Updates —May 16, 2013

Thanks to all the great suggestions I've decided on the following changes:

Dissipation Field -> Weathered Wayfarer I've been feeling like my opponents have been abusing Dissipation Field for their own benefit. They've been pinging me with things just to bounce their permanents, THUS I'm going to change it to a card that helps me with my new Maze's End wincon.

Jester's Mask -> Scapeshift Shenanigans are always fun, but ones that will NEVER help you win end up not being that fun to play with.

Birds of Paradise -> New Frontiers The number of times I've tapped BOP for mana is single digits. It's not useful enough and dies accidentally to some really annoying spells in my meta. (Arc Blade is annoying...)

Darksteel Ingot -> Life from the Loam Surprisingly, I've felt more lane hate then I have artifact hate in this meta. I feel as if this change reflects the needs of my meta.

Questing Phelddagrif -> Seizan, Perverter of Truth You know how many times I've used the happy hippo? Once, and he was really useless. I also feel as if this is bringing me toward this deck being more balanced with the colors. I was as if I lacked black and W/G was too heavy.

Utopia Vow -> Endless Whispers As I was saying. The deck was feeling really W/G heavy and lacking black. So I'm trying to make it more balanced. Only reason for this change. If you know of some more group huggy black enchants I'd love to know about them.

Land Tax -> No Mercy See above. (Also, with Weathered Wayfarer in the deck I feel as if this is less useful)

Vow of Wildness -> Tolaria West Trading out a card I feel as if I've replaced (Armadillo Cloak feels like a better version of this card) with some more delicious Maze's End wincon.

Norn's Annex -> Edric, Spymaster of Trest Norn's just not doing the work I'd like it to do. It's not an enchant and doesn't help me out as much as I'd like, also, felt like I needed more creatures in the deck.

Rupture Spire -> Expedition Map Once again I was baffled by how a 35 land deck can be mana heavy. Then I looked at my land grab and was less suspicious. Oh well.

If you're going heavy into the Maze's End win, Weathered Wayfarer will help you get there.

Thanks, I was going to go over how to make this whole Maze's End thing more viable after a weekend of playtesting, but ideas are always welcome! I'm sure that the next iteration of my deck will include Weathered Wayfarer ! He's an awesome card, thanks for the suggestion!

Scapeshift lets you scrap any number of lands and search for any other number of lands.

As long as you have any 11 lands out and cast that, you'll win. Because you can fetch your 10 gates and your maze if they are not already out in play.

In case you're looking for options to find the maze itself, I've always been a fan of Expedition Map to find essential non-basics.
