Episode VI: Return of the Pimp! —July 5, 2017

I finally bit the bullet and bought many of the deck's cards in foil and foreign versions. The deck is now past 75% pimped out, and I am very happy with this. A few cards are still in the mail, so this number should get even better in the near future...

I think this deck seeems really good but i am curius about this EDH deck so hope it is ok i ask.. is that something you have physically and play with a playgroup, and if you are useing it in a play group how many players? or do you have it online? cause in real life commander with 4 total players (so you included) or more as soon a control player sees just one of the follwing cards a sword, stoneforge mystic, puresteel or paladin or your commander hit the battlefield the control player will say who your commander are and you are useing equipement and be the target for every player there, wich really dosent happen online so i can see this deck be really good online but extremely ineffective irl.. hope to hear from your Kind regards Anima :-)

Anima2900: Hi! Yes, I do play this deck in person - usually in 4-person pods including myself. I sometimes am the target at the table, but I kill the control players first, and that often lets me kill everyone else.

The deck is fast enough that often they are unable to counter my spells - with a good hand, I don't need to cast any spells after T3 to win. I don't even need my commander, and my protection often shields me from removal. I have a reasonably good matchup against control (many counterspells are dead, and creature removal doesn't hurt TOO much) and against stax (very low curve).

The other factor is that I play in a relatively high-level playgroup, so the control player is often trying to combat a fast combo player...and I can swing in to murder them both when they're worried about an infinite combo happening.

Basically, the deck is strong enough on a good hand to fight off three people at once. And on a slightly weaker hand, I can often bide my time until the control player is exhausted, THEN swing out to kill everyone.

Does that answer your question? :) If I was unclear feel free to ask for clarification haha. And if you like the deck, don't forget to leave a +1! ;)

sounds cool and i will give a + 1 nodoubt ;-) but if the control player is only on the counter train it dosent seem high level sorry :-/ then there would be stuff like ghostly prison, island santuary, sandwurm convergence propaganda and mass exile effects and destroy all artifacts going around :-) but +1 for very original deck list that seems like a ton of fun :-)

forgot to mention stony silence effects :-) you have very few destroy for enchantments and artifacts and only one exile :-) in my play group if a player is stable enough at his turn 4 as you say you can be :-) there is 100% guranteed a planar clensing effect or target player sac x creatures, coming before your turn 5 and this deck dosent have anything that can protect you from that kind of spells as far as i can see, but i can ofc have missed it so if i did pls le me know :-)

Anima2900: I play in a playgroup with a lot of high-power artifact-based combo decks, which tend to use Counterspells as their method of control (which, as I said earlier, my deck plays well against).

Stony Silence does hurt but I rarely run into it (because it hurts my opponents more than myself so they often aren't playing it). But even without my artifacts, aggro options like Serra Ascendant can close out the game.

And I have Boros Charm (which can be Sunforger'd) and Avacyn herself to aid with Planar Cleansing mitigation. But I'm fast to rebuild on an empty field so it doesn't worry me too much.

And "target player sacs X creatures" effects don't worry me that much if they're one-time. I can just play another creature and re-equip to make another threat.

i can see you ignored the first post i made so here it is again :-) sounds cool and i will give a + 1 nodoubt ;-) but if the control player is only on the counter train they Arent realy playing control, counter spells in edh is merely disruption the opponets plan a little not but non controling it would be stuff like ghostly prison, island santuary, sandwurm convergence propaganda and mass exile effects and destroy all artifacts:-) but +1 for very original deck list that seems like a ton of fun :-)

Anima2900: Thanks for the +1 :) I do face Propaganda sort of effects a lot, and they slow me down (though since I'm attacking with only a few creatures they're not fatal to my gameplan).

Sandwurm Convergence hasn't showed up much yet (too expensive for fast combo decks I suspect), but when it does I may have to include more removal beyond Return to Dust and Chaos Warp.

"Destroy all artifacts" is a thing I do face, and I have two options: either outrace them so they're within lethal range without my buffs, or prioritize tutoring for Sunforger so that I can access Boros Charm at will.

And mass exile hurts. I can rebuild, but it hurts. Luckily, there aren't many good mass exile effects (beyond Consulate Crackdown and Merciless Eviction), so this is somewhat infrequent.

Thank you for your interest in my deck! ;)

You could add Gisela, Blade of Goldnight? it seems really powerful for a red white edh. also great with avacyn trigger

Also, why run blood moon? it just seems to limit your white mana further. +1

WiltLeafElves: Thanks for the comment! (Though it turns out you've +1'd my deck in the past - no worries haha.)

I played Gisela, Blade of Goldnight very briefly, but I just found her to be too slow. With no way to cheat her in, she was dead in my hand a LOT.

And while Blood Moon isn't in the maindeck, it hurts my opponents more than myself. I usually have enough basic Plains to survive, while it often shuts down some of my opponents completely.

Clock of Omens + Winter Orb/Static Orb + any artifact that taps lets you tap everyone out without affecting yourself.

yeah, that's some pretty secret tech considering you can tap equipment to untap your rocks to avoid taxes and such
