Abzan Wolfpack Welcome to the decklist, I've seen a few variations of this deck floating around the web and this would be my ideal list to take to my LGS. I'll be updating it as the format shifts and i will be posting weekly placements and how each matchup played out.

Mana Dorks

Gilded Goose : Provides food and a flying body to block if need be, given this deck has a few food payoffs in Savvy Hunter & Wicked Wolf being able to either generate more food for 2 mana to either use the mana later, draw a card, or make the wolf indestructible and bigger is fantastic. Paradise Druid : Great mana fixer for tri-color, its hexproof till tapped, can be a threat if the game drags out.

Three Drop Value

Anybody remember Tireless Tracker ? Well a lesser version of the Tracker is here in the body of Savvy Hunter , other than looking badass and bringing back enough Rabbits to feed a whole village, she brings serious value in a 3/3 body that generates food attacking and blocking and provides card draw for cashing in 2 food. She is a great early game blocker and a decent threat against control. If she can draw any hate you will be in great shape knowing your later creatures will be safe for a couple turns. Speaking of drawing hate... how about Murderous Rider ??? This thing is an absolute must 4 of in any midrange deck that runs black. Amazing removal hitting planeswalkers and creatures for 3 mana and 2 life, a worse Hero's Downfall at first glance, but the fact that you can get a respectable 2/3 body with lifelink later puts this card in a different level of pure playability.

The Wolves

Wicked Wolf : Comes down and fights anything (and typically wins) it is great at dodging removal by simply sacrificing a food generated by the above mentioned cards. It can come down turn 4 and eat anything toughness 4 or less simply by resolving the creature first, hold priority of fight trigger, sac food in response, tap wolf give it a +1/+1 and indestructible, then resolve fight trigger. Nightpack Ambusher : The Wolflord of the deck, I've loved this card ever since its leak back in the day. The instant speed of this can make for some awesome tempo plays and get you some neat triggers... but we will get to that later. The fact this thing can sit on board as a 4/4 wall against smaller creatures and you can simply say go and hold up removal while generating a 3/3 wolf is great.

Friendly Elf Fella

Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves : This card is one of the main payoffs of the deck and just screams value. This card will draw all the removal in the world so hopefully this deck's earlier creatures can draw some of those removal spells. At the very least, this Friendly Elf card resolving can gain you 3 life and can allow the wolf token to fight another creature and clear the way for your bigger threats. If it stays on the board and you can cast other wolves to get triggers you will run away with the game. If only there was a card to put 2 wolves on the battlefield to earn 2 triggers other than Ferocious Pup ...

The Huntsman Returns

Garruk, Cursed Huntsman : Boy oh Boy am I excited to play with this guy again. The fact that I already love Garruk as a planeswalker was enough for me to play him, but his abilities are amazing for this deck. If Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves stuck around and you can resolve Garruk... his ability to make 2 wolves will gain you 6 life and deal 4 damage to up to 2 target enemy creatures and put 2 loyalty on your garruk if the wolves die. You could also minus and destroy a threat while drawing a card which can easily swing a game in your favor. But if you can get the emblem pumping your board +3/+3 even a late game Gilded Goose or Paradise Druid can close out the game.

Other Spells

Once Upon a Time : Allows you to dig for land drops or threats and if it is the first spell casted it's free. So if you find yourself needing to mulligan down to 6 or even 5 with one of these in your hand you'll still be in a good position. Assassin's Trophy : Catchall removal hitting everything in the game, only downside is you ramp your enemy but I would much rather have them get mana instead of facing one of their key threats. Duress : 2 of these are mainboard simply because I feel that my LGS will have a majority of either midrange madness with lots of spells and planeswalkers, or a lot of mono red players. Hitting Teferi, Time Raveler or Oko, Thief of Crowns with a Duress is one of my favorite things to do in MTG. You can also get rid of any removal or sweepers they have stashed in hand. Not to mention the likes of Cavalcade of Calamity or Experimental Frenzy or hell even taking a Light Up the Stage can feel really good and you get hand information which is more than you can ask for out of a 1 mana investment.

Honestly I'm still playing with ideas and I'll need to see how my LGS meta shakes out but I am open to ideas and suggestions.
