Hi everyone!

This is the first magic deck I've posted on tappedout.net, but as a casual player who mostly homebrews I've had several 3-1's, including a second place finish on a gameday winning me a playmat.

This deck is the 10th revision of this deck. The colours are Blue/Red splash Black. The splash black is for Far/Away, given I had problems with larger creatures when it was purely Izzet.

The idea is that this is a control deck, but you may play things intermittently as well such as Guttersnipe or Young Pyromancer. These two creatures cannot be ignored, because when unchecked, any counterspell or Think Twice you do is either a free shock or a free blocker to stall the game which control wants. When an instant or sorcery is cast, it deals 2 damage to each opponent. This ignores Witchbane Orb as it is "each opponent" instead of "targetting" and it is very handy for killing planeswalkers as you can redirect the damage.

If they do kill off the Guttersnipe or Young Pyromancer, Niv-Mizzet comes out and by then you should have exhausted their hand and with Niv-Mizzet's pinging and raw draw power you should out card-advantage them.

Deck Archetypes:

Aristocrats: Against aristocrat type decks, get rid of mizzium mortars and put in Izzet staticasters and izzet charms for instant speed removal. I've izzet charmed a Cartel Aristocrat in response to a Falkenrath Aristocrat being played so they cannot sacrifice one another to each other.

Control: Board out the Far/Aways and put in Slaughter Games and Izzet Charms. Also get rid of the Essence Scatters and Board in the extra Counterflux, as that can't be countered.

Aggro: More burn, less counters. Pillar of Flame, Essence Scatters and Izzet Charms are great as the last card doubles as a counter or removal. Mizzium mortars is great if you can overload it.

Tokens: Izzet Staticasters and Izzet Charms were great against the Intangible Virtue matchups. I've countered Intangible Virtue many times with an Izzet Charm or Negate, then pinged off their tokens.

Feedback would be nice! Thanks!
