Flexible Super Budget White (Standard MTG Deck)

This is a bargain bin (mainboard under $20) mono-white that can easily be tinkered with to change the emphasis from flyers to lifegain to ascend while still more or less following the same general strategy of getting a lot of cheap creatures on the board quickly. It's a blend of popular mono-white decks that I've seen around the internet. The idea is to acquire some of the "maybe" cards in addition to the listed main and sideboard, and to try lots of different variations in casual play.

Popular white cards like Settle the Wreckage and Legion's Landing are omitted for being out of budget. The most expensive cards included are Benalish Marshal and Tocatli Honor Guard . At a couple of bucks each, Marshal is too good to omit from the mainboard at its price, and likewise Tocatli is important if ETB effects are a concern. I'm surprised at how close I could get to the current competitive meta decks for just 20 bucks!

For a faster ascension strategy at a higher budget, Legion's Landing gifts you an extra land once it transforms, meaning one more hard-to-remove permanent to speed up hitting that ascend trigger. It's a pricey card for casual play with friends, but for something like $30 you can get a set of four and give the deck a competitive edge.

For a more serious lifegain strategy (an afterthought in this deck) at a higher budget, one might want to add a few Ajani Goldmane and/or Ajani, Wise Counselor in addition to the Ajani's Pridemate set. Plenty of other lifelink options could be added as well, but I think that a lifegain-heavy strategy from this base deck would just slow it down too much. The Leonin Vanguard are included in this deck mainly for being another one drop creature option with decent effects.
