May still have some tweaks I'll end up wanting to do, but THIS is my devotion to green, splash black, chord of calling, ramp deck. Sexy.
With Supreme Verdict out of the format, I think the stage is set to go all out with a ramp strategy. 11 mana dorks turn into huge mana fast, pumping out Nissa, Worldwaker, and even
Garruk, Apex Predator
incredibly fast. Of course Polukranos, World Eater is here as always, but he's been one-upped in number by his new little brother Genesis Hydra. Genesis Hydra does a lot of things for me, pulling out Nissa or Garruk when high on mana, or even finding a dork for 2 or 3 in desperate situations. Every time I edit the deck, I think to myself, "Jeez, nine mana? I should really take out In Garruk's Wake..." And it's true, having it in your starting hand is a real drag. But those games where you slam that puppy on the table from a huge disadvantage and destroy your opponent........to sweet to give up. And anyway, nine mana isn't so bad with dorks, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and Nissa, Worldwaker.
Sideboard Strats:The sideboard is highly unrefined, since there is no post-RTR meta-game established yet, but I feel like this is a decent start.
Arbor Colossus
HATES things with wings. Back to Nature is as an additional aid, along with 2 more Reclamation Sage to combat Ensoul Artifact decks, which I think are pretty strong right now.
hornet's nest
and
Nylea's Disciple
hedge against aggro. Phyrexian Revoker blanks planeswalkers and can be found with Chord of Calling, and Stain the Mind is to stave off
End Hostilities
, as is the extra
Scuttling Doom Engine
.
Suggestions and discussion always appreciated! Give 'er a playtest, you'll find yourself with a whole lotta mana.
Why Evel Knievel? Cause it's seriously big ramp ;)
