Brewed this list recently and took it to one of my local game stores for FNM. Got Top 4 with this deck.
Seemed like a fun deck to take since I had most of the cards already. I was thinking I could get ahold of some windswepths but nope. I played Temple Gardens instead. Which is fine, it's just that heath will get you mana untapped.
This list cannot deal with re-occuring Ensnaring Bridge as you will find out in the matches below. Need more artifact hate, I did not expect to see bridge while building the list.
As you might can guess, Faith's Reward is there for Wrath hate. I actually ran one mainboard so I could play 3 Leylines in side. But I didn't cast it at all during the tournament.
Kalonian Twingrove should be Dungrove #4 but I wasn't able to find my last one and I thought it might be neat to try and play. Doesn't really fit the deck though.
I wasn't sure about Llanowar Elves because yea it's a mana dork and it does help but there are times where having it doesn't matter. I would have liked to play another one drop like Experiment One, but my deck has a few 1/1's like Skinshifter and Predator Ooze where it doesn't synergize well. Elves is good enough.
I never saw Silverheart in play, which is sad because I really like the card. Bellowing Tanglewurm is just better though since it adds the evasion element.
Pairings below:
Round 1: vs. Mono Black Discard
My friend had a list with all the discard spells and punishment and tops it off with Pack Rat as the beater. I got in fast game 1 and sideboarded the leylines. I get one in my opening hand and most of his deck is toast.
Round 2: W/B Tokens
Innistrad era esque deck with gather the townsfolk, triplicate spirits, intangible virtues, Sorin, etc. A few timely Miracle cast revenge of the hunted helped me wipe his board.
Round 3: R/W Tribal Human Lifegain
I never thought I would see Norin, the weary played. This guy played souls attendant and soul wardens to gain life as well as getting counters on Champion of the Parish, Ajani's Pridemate. Genesis Chamber ensured he had plenty of blockers to deal with my creatures. We went back and forth with this one as Rancor and Bellowing Tanglewurm helped here and I sided in Paths to deal with his beaters. In our game 3 he ended up taking it because I didn't draw well.
Round 4: Ensnaring Bridge Mill
Soo, this deck really sucks against ensnaring bridge. No artifact hate mainboard meant going to game 2 because he never had any cards in hand. I side in leylines and krosans. I krosan a bridge and swing, but he gets it back next turn. Later Surgical Extracts the Krosan grip. If I thought about it I would have sided my Rest in Peace here so he atleast couldn't do that.
Round 5: R/G ???
Not really sure what my opponent was playing but it was stomping grounds, bop, arbor elf game 1 while I swing a rancor'd strangleroot on board for game. Game 2 I side in leylines and paths since I thought he was trying to ramp into something or potential burn. He plays Stormbreath dragon and I start to panic inside since I have no way to deal with it. I had enough board presence by the time he played it where it didn't matter and path'd his Inferno Titan, the only other beatstick he played.
Top 8: R/W Tribal Human Lifegain
Yea, same guy I played Round 3. Our decks work about the same, which his his works better than mine in the aggro aspect, but his deck was more inconsistent this round as he couldn't draw what he needed to deal with my creatures. If you don't get what you need early it's really hit or miss.
