I've removed Courser of Kruphix for now, although it pained me to do so.

Current things you can help me with:

Adding 1x Whip of Erebos mainboard. What to remove?

Hero's Downfall vs. the recently spoiled Murderous Cut. My only thought is that Empty the Pits is going to require some serious cardage in the graveyard. In addition, only Hero's Downfall and Jace, the Living Guildpact allow me to remove planeswalkers without attacking.

I think Necropolis Fiend will be a strong card in the SB after they side in answers to deal with Empty the Pits . It's all about those mindgames...

You want as many cards in your graveyard for Empty the Pits so as much as I love her, why have Pharika, God of Affliction ?

The deathtouch tokens create a very good deterrent while I set up a large graveyard. Since it can be played at instant speed, this makes it more relevant.

It's also not too hard to activate her in this deck. A 5/5 indestructible is nothing to sneer at.

Im conflicted on which one of these decks to build/alter for my own dredge/golgari idea. Can you perhaps anaylze/compare yours to his?

Dredge and Decay is more risk and reward, if it doesn't get that Empty the pits it will rely on Pharika, Sidisi, and Reapers. Not bad but weaker than it could be. It works best with Empty The Pits and doesn't care for reanimation. Dead, Not Gone is the opposite, all it wants to do is to reanimate the bigger guys into play and win with a few bigger guys rather than an army of Zombies.

This looks pretty good, but I can't fathom why you removed Courser of Kruphix . It certainly helps with speeding up your draws into a card that gives massive fodder for Empty the Pits . I see that you recently removed Kiora, the Crashing Wave as well, and it seems strange considering that she can prevent attacking as well as explore. Not to say that Pharika, God of Affliction isn't a great card, but if you keep her, Whip of Erebos might not be the best idea. Two cards that will empty your graveyard aren't ideal when trying to cast Empty the Pits . But this looks like an amazing deck.

I'm going to go out and say that Bow of Nylea will be far more useful in this deck then Whip of Erebos because it allows you to keep swinging with your own creatures without worrying about what bigger creatures your opponent has down (aka it costs them to block your smaller creatures) also the +1/+1 token allows Sidisi, Brood Tyrant do dodge cards like Bile Blight .

I'll consider Bow of Nylea . @Beep I was defending Courser of Kruphix from attacks for days. People kept saying to get rid of him, my deck didn't need him.

I really wanted to play Pharika, God of Affliction , but maybe Courser should take her slot. Empty the Pits wasn't spoiled yet when Courser was on the chopping block. With the fetch synergy, putting a land into the yard, I'm definitely going to take another look at it.

Kiora, the Crashing Wave is good, but I don't think she's exactly what I want here. Jace, the Living Guildpact actually functions in many of the same ways. He can draw, temporarily remove a threat, and in addition put choice cards in my yard.

This looks like a very expensive deck to build. Do you think it will work out post-rotation?

September 10, 2014 5:35 a.m.

Beep says... #10

This is entirely M15 and KOT so RTR and M14 rotating won't affect this at all

September 10, 2014 7 a.m.

UpsetYoMama says... #11

xarop_pa_toss Beep Yeah it's built for post-rotation. The only reason this deck is currently super high in price is because Polluted Delta is still in tappedout at $98 dollars. I expect them to settle around $15 or so. Therefore, you can probably subtract about $200 from the deck price.

Did you guys like it? Any suggestions or comments?

What about Villainous Wealth, Kheru Lich Lord, or Rakshasa Deathdealer?

Something that will tear this deck apart is Bile Blight . You run a small amount of counter spells, but when you cast Empty the Pits , you likely aren't going to save any mana for a Negate or Dissolve . One direction I think this deck could go is to remove Empty the Pits entirely and focus more on Sidisi herself. If you remove Pharika, possibly for Courser of Kruphix , you can use your graveyard towards powerful spells like Murderous Cut , an unconditional removal spell. That way, you benefit from cards entering the graveyard, but don't lose anything by exiling them.

September 11, 2014 6:15 p.m.

UpsetYoMama says... #14

Yeah Bile Blight is gonna suck. If I'm playing against mono black aggro or something that is running blight, games 2-3 I play with their mind. Necropolis Fiend comes in to replace Empty the Pits . At least that's my plan right now. Necropolis Fiend also laughs at Stormbreath Dragon . I think he's one of the most underrated delve cards right now.

I may start playing with the deck competitively and get smashed. Which, of course, is always a possibility and I'll have to relook at my strategy. I think my biggest issue right now is deciding whether or not to run Courser of Kruphix . Basically it's a showdown between Courser and Pharika at this point.

Kheru Lich Lord is a bit slow, I feel like. It is also conditional as to when I can play it, and with my luck I'd be reanimating a mana dork most of the time. Rakshasa Deathdealer is awesome, but he doesn't help my mill strategy, so I'm not sure about him in this deck.

Absolutely must play the BUG ascendency if you're playing these colors.

Yup, thanks for reminding me. I had tried to add it a few days ago and it wasn't in the system yet.

Okay, made a few changes. Thanks for all the comments. This is the current version of the deck I am testing. If anyone is able to test it against their deck for Khans and can tell me the results that would be cool.

I would cut a Courser of Kruphix and a Sultai Charm for a 2x Murderous Cut , since they should be relatively cheap to cast in your deck, plus you might find yourself taking out Sultai Charm anyway based on the Meta.

September 13, 2014 1:18 a.m.

Beep says... #19

I would advise against cutting Courser of Kruphix . Absolutely essential for any green deck. I might even run 4 of them.

I plan to run Necropolis Fiend and Rakshasa Vizier in my deck as opposed to your Nyx Weaver and Reaper of the Wilds. Necropolis Fiend actually reduces the need for a removal package so you could add in those as well since with the Fiend you could probably shave a murderous cut or two. Dig Through Time is also amazing. 2 mana to draw 2 cards out of seven and refill my graveyard for necropolis fiend or murderous cut? Yes please!

September 14, 2014 1:07 p.m.

Beep says... #21

Murderous Cut is a far better use for your graveyard than Necropolis Fiend or Empty the Pits , and Rakshasa Vizier is simply useless. A 5 mana beater with no evasion that will simply take a turn and then eat a kill spell. Dig Through Time is good, but only one is necessary. It's made so that you don't run out of steam, but it takes a lot of mana / graveyard to play. Once again, I would like to recommend Negate , but for your main board. I would tone down on the number of things in this deck that will die to Bile Blight . Not sure why you put Pharika, God of Affliction as a maybeboard, but if you cut down on big delve cards, then you will have more room for making snakes. I would also like to point out that Sultai Ascendency is a 3 mana enchantment that does nothing the turn it comes onto the battlefield. I would remove 1 or both, and add another Thoughtsieze. This deck is clearly midrange, but it doesn't have nearly enough unconditional removal for it to work as a midrange deck

UpsetYoMama says... #22

@Beep Thanks for the suggestions, I will consider them. I want to fit Phraika in here, so I might end up using her instead of Sultai Ascendancy . Pharika has been in and out of the deck.

@goggyftw You're misreading Dig Through Time . The cards don't go into your graveyard, they go on the bottom of your deck.

I like the idea of running Negate mainboard. That way I could be ready against Anger of the Gods , Bile Blight , End Hostilities , and the like. What do you think isn't essential at this point? What could I cut to add 2 Negate ?

September 14, 2014 2:53 p.m.

Beep says... #24

Considering you only run 4 cards with Delve, Jace, the Living Guildpact isn't essential, and you could remove him entirely for Negate . You also might consider going to 2 or even 1 Sidisi, Brood Tyrant . Unless of course you want to make this entirely around her.

Hey man just a correction on your thoughts of the interaction between sultai charm and tormods crypt. Crypts sacrifice is part of the cost of the ability, and you cant respond to costs being paid, only effects they cause. Therefore, unfortunately, its put in the graveyard as a state based effect and its ability goes on the stack before you even have priority in which to cast the charm.
