Old School Budget Brew for #TimmyTalks Contest
This budget build is a Green/White combo/control deck that aims to drop a Cyclone and a COP:Green on the table. The circle soaks up the damage to you, while hitting the opponent and his creatures until they are dead. Six turns with cyclone in operation yields 1+2+3+4+5+6 = 21 damage to the opponent.
The strategy against creatures is to use the Walls of Ice help negate large ground-bound Djinns like Juzams and Erhnams, while Dancing Scimitars can defend against Efreets, Angels and Vampires. Swords to Plowshares and Spirit Links can handle most other problematic creatures like Hypnotic Specters as soon as turn 1. Juzams and Serendibs are particularly fun targets for Spirit Link, hopefully gaining you a bit of life. With the deck having so many enchantments as well, Spirit Links might draw out Disenchants before the Cyclones and Arborias hit the table.
Other fun potential interactions include the classic Force of Nature with a Spirit Link on him (or a COP:Green in play), using Gaea's Liege to make Plains into Forests to continue to fuel the Cyclone. The deck includes a fun package in Lad Tax, Library of Leng and Ivory Tower, allowing you to fill your hand with lands and gain life from them, or use them to fuel Cyclones.
Crumbles are there for pesky Mishra's Factories and other troublesome artifacts. Titania's Song can ravage Moxen and when combined with Cyclone can eat even more artifacts. Other control elements include the Maze of Ith, Strip Mine and Balance.
Against faster decks, Leprechauns can come in from the sideboard to slow things down. Even if they don't kill their attacker, chump blocking can paint their enemies green which will then allow COP:Green to stop them later in the game. Additional removal can also come in for aggro decks.
The dream is to have 6 forests in play, COP: Green and then dropping Cyclone and Arboria. If you can defend against the next attack, you'll have a soft-lock which will pretty well kill your opponent over six turns without giving them any chance to attack. However, the deck can also pivot into a Force of Nature deck, taking out the Cyclones if desired. This makes the liklihood of a Force of Nature + Spirit Link combo even more likely.
Overall, I've tried to take advantage of very budget friendly, but potentially powerful, cards like Cyclone and Arboria. The deck has lots of potentially fun interactions which should help to make it an exciting deck to play.
