Since the release of Throne of Eldraine and Theros Beyond Death, Esper midrange/control can be more of a possibility with the addition of these cards.

Murderous Rider Show

A Planeswalker/creature removal spell with the ability to be cast from exile as a creature with lifelink.

Kunoros, Hound of Athreos Show

Makes it so spells can't be cast from graveyards and creatures can't enter the battlefield from graveyards. This limits decks that rely on cards in graveyards.

Brazen Borrower Show

Returns pesky nonland permanent to owner's hand.

Thassa's Intervention Show

Probably the best counterspell in Pioneer with an option to look at top cards of library and put two in hand and rest on the bottom.

Drown in the Loch Show

A counterspell and removal spell all in one.
