Overview:
This is a budget White-Weenies deck with some tempo elements. The intent was to create a solid FNM deck for around $25. At first I looked at the heroic mechanic, but discarded because it required opening hands to have creatures and spells to target them. This leaves the deck open to the loss of multiple cards to a single opponent removal spell. Brave the Elements is the best card White-weenies card in the current standard format, there are no stand out creatures such as Champion of the Parish or Mirran Crusader. White does have some creatures with disruptive effects that are inexpensive enough to use in budget builds.
The Plan:
The deck wants to play a creature round one and then disrupt your opponents ability to block (via Snarecaster, Arrester, and Sovereign). This should allow for consistently getting damage through to the point where an Alpha Strike under Brave the Elements closes out the game.
Pressure: These are the creatures with the primary role of dealing damage. Dryad Militant is a solid 2/1 for one mana. Boros Elite is only a 1/1 to start but will swing as a 3/3 if you can trigger battalion. Loyal Pegasus is a 2/1 for one, but has the drawback of needing another creature to attack or block with it. This is clearly a budget choice and should be replaced with Soldier of the Pantheon when possible. Daring Skyjek gives a good power and relevant battalion ability.
Disruption: Imposing Sovereign offers a static and recurring tempo hit as it forces opposing creatures to enter the battlefield tapped. Leonin Snarecaster and Azorius Arrester are functionally the same, but Arrester is superior due to detain lasting through your opponents next turn. These creatures remove one blocker from the equation and should be held for that purpose if possible. Once their enter the battlefield (ETB) effect has been used they become pressure. Keening Apparition offers a two power body with the bonus of the ability to sacrifice it to destroy an enchantment. This could be a relevant ability in the current meta, but if your local meta has a lot of Golgari Charms of Electrickery Oreskos Sun Guide might be a better option. If budget allows Precinct Captain is a better option in this slot. Banisher Priest basically sits on another creature while it remains in the battlefield. Use caution when attacking with you Banisher Priest. Pacifism is another piece of your disruption package as removes a creature from combat.
Other Spells: Spear of Heliod is the only current anthem and can serve as conditional removal. Brave the Elements protects creatures from damage and allows them to punch through lethal damage.
Upgrades:
Soldier of the Pantheon,
Precinct Captain,
Spirit of the Labyrinth,
Ajani, Caller of the Pride,
Sideboard:
White also give some good side board options for the current standard meta game.
