Psionic Sliver Discussion

First off thanks for the advice. I have been play mtg on and off for around 5 years, but have just now thought about competitive play. I just don't like making decks not themed some way lol. Aether Vial is a good idea didn't know it was a thing lol. Ancient Ziggurat I don't like that it wont help bring out my artifacts I agree with the legendary creatures (just didn't think about it), I cut them down to 1 each cause i can always use Homing Sliver to find them, Psionic Sliver is rather costly but i like it for cards like Ghostly Prison

Aether Vial and Ancient Ziggurat are both cards you might be interested in. Also, remember that legendary creatures are not good in multiples. So maybe consider cutting some of the copies of Sliver Legion and Sliver Hivelord. Lastly, modern is a very fast format, so maybe also consider lowering the average converted mana cost of your slivers by removing high costed cards like Psionic Sliver and putting in more low cost high impact cards like Sinew Sliver and Predatory Sliver

Great choice for your sliver commander! I know people like to use Hivelord for the indestructibility (but with exiling removal becoming more prominent its not as good as it seems) or Overlord for tutoring the same combos. Despite that I feel that the Queen is the strongest because she allows you to build your board without overextending.

Personally I feel that you should cut out all non-sliver creatures unless they provide something really unique to the game plan. I mean, Qasali Pridemage can be replaced with Harmonic Sliver. You can cut out your ramp creatures for land-based ramp since you are in green. Slivers are already susceptible to board wipes. Why exacerbate that with so many mana dorks?

You are also missing some MVP slivers. Venom Sliver and Toxin Sliver, Brood Sliver. Hibernation Sliver lets you protect choice slivers from wraths (including your commander!) I would actually use anthems to pump up your slivers, this way you can keep precious card slots for useful abilities. You don't need to waste slots on weenies cause your commander conjures them out of thin air.

The PWs may add an alternate route to victory but imo they don't really synergize with the sliver plan. Psionic Sliver can let your slivers one-shot a player. Thorncaster Sliver does something similar on attack. Leeching Sliver as well. If you add in the haste slivers, you can put in Living Death and Patriarch's Bidding as a powerful plan B.

Don't underestimate how powerful Dormant Sliver can be, often allowing you to draw into your deck deeply to find what you need, provided you have a means to sacrifice them like Firewake Sliver or something like that. Another notable is Psionic Sliver: while it may seem bad at first, with a few muscles and sinews, you have an alternate win condition which you can use to break games where combat is not possible.

Heartstone is another artifact you can use in place of Training Grounds to reduce the cost of your slivers abilities although it does work for the other players in the game as well.

Warstorm Surge allows for targeted removal as you play slivers because it is an ETB effect all slivers will enter with all the abilities they would be getting from the rest of your slivers.

Crypt Sliver is a nice way to keep your slivers alive by giving them all regenerate.

Psionic Sliver is one of the slivers I didn't much like when I was building my deck due to the feedback damage from it triggering your own deathtouch on your own creatures. Burning Sands is also a card that you need to be careful of yourself incase you get wiped and lose all of your lands.

As it stands the sliver deck I made had a higher budget and was a different style to yours. The bomb I had was Primal Surge with no other non-permanent cards in the entire deck. My play group also liked to wipe out the board in various different ways on me so cards that could hurt me I had to avoid.

You did not mention a format this is for but there are other ways to keep his creatures off of you. Even with slivers. Have you tried the following:

Psionic Sliver or Constricting Sliver or Acidic Sliver or Telekinetic Sliver or Necrotic Sliver?

Having a way to make slivers makes Necrotic Sliver probably game-ending if not addressed. Use a Sliver Hive to make slivers and then use the Necrotic Sliver's ability to destroy their creatures, then their lands. Game over.

Maze of Ith has other friends like Ice Floe.

Screeching Sliver can back up Psionic Sliver as a kill condition, letting you mill out the opponent, and help make your deck modern legal by replacing Metallic Sliver.
