Savior's Ascendancy

Enchantment

Tap three non-token creatures you control that each share a creature type: Target opponent may have you gain control of a land they control. If they choose not to, they discard a card, and you draw a card.

This maybe is a TWD card, flavourwise tied to Negan, The Cold-Blooded.

Repeat.

Thank you Andramalech! In my 4ish years playing EDH, Mardu has definitely grown to be my favorite three color combo. Sultai was my favorite for a bit, but I got kinda bored with it. My Mardu love started with my Alesha, Who Smiles at Death deck, Awkward Eye Contact with Death (retired), which got recycled into Isshin earlier this year. I don't currently own this Shanid deck; this list is more a running concept if I did decide to pick it up. Some of the pieces from the new Necron WH40K precon also have me reconsidering Jan Jansen, Chaos Crafter lol.

Alesha was a fun balancing act between aggro, control, and mobilizing a combo. I changed her theme up about 2-3 times over the 2 years that I had the deck running. I know I'll eventually revisit her, but I'm having too much fun with Isshin and honing it more. My play group seems to be coming around on proxies, so I might proxy up her pieces that are currently in Isshin. I might end up with 3 proxied Mardu decks at this rate lol.

My meta tends to lean aggro and go-wide, so that's more or less where my love for beat-face strats comes from. I still love combos when they can fit with a deck.

I think that Mardu has received a lot of love from WotC in the past few years in terms of design diversity. I mean:

I, fortunately, have not played against Tergrid, God of Fright  Flip - though I think someone in my playgroup has made that deck now. I think I have a few decks that may stack up ok against it... hard to say though.

I feel like if WoTC keeps making do-it-all, high-powered commanders, the game will just be a game of using the 99 to ramp into the commander & not much else because there is your turn __ wincon right there.

Side note: someone mentioned Negan, The Cold-Blooded. I could see how that one gets frustrating. Could you imagine how much more prolific that commander would be if it weren't a Walking Dead oddball?

I’m always excited to play against the political shenanigans of a Phelddagrif or Zedruu the Greathearted deck. But honestly, any EDH game is fun to me if the decks at the table have unique twists to them or are built around less obvious combos/mechanics (like a zombie deck that’s not loaded with reanimation spells or a deck focused on turning enchantments into creatures).

As far as commanders I actively dislike: those are few and far between but I do get annoyed with Negan, The Cold-Blooded or Talrand, Sky Summoner builds that are just 60 counterspells and some lands.

Okay Guys, I loved Horde-Magic the moment I saw it. So now I want to build a Zombie-Horde Deck and 4 „Surviver“ Commander Decks with the Generals being: * Glenn, the Voice of Calm * Negan, The Cold-Blooded * Michonne, Ruthless Survivor * Daryl, Hunter of Walkers

I would like each Deck to be unique in it’s Game-strategy and -plan. If you have some Ideas for Deck archetypes that would fit with the theme let me know :D (Every answer/idea is helping.)

Neotrup on Kalitas & Negan, replacement interaction?

You would get both the zombie and the treasure.

Sacrifice, destroy, discard, and counter are all keyword actions that ultimately result in a card being put into a graveyard, however. If the card doesn't go there. The action was still performed. Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet modifies the result of the action, but does not replace the action with an entirely new one like Eligeth, Crossroads Augur does (replacing a keyword action is rare which is why the example seems so unrelated). This is in contrast to 'dies' which a player is never directed to have something die and does care where a card ends up.

Leyline of the Void won't stop triggers from Negan, The Cold-Blooded , Liliana's Caress , or Lullmage Mentor , nor change the number of cards Decree of Pain would cause you to draw. It will stop Fecundity from letting players draw cards.

Bitships on Kalitas & Negan, replacement interaction?

Hi all,

In a game where I have Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet on the field, I then play Negan, The Cold-Blooded .

My understanding is that Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is a replacement ability, and so when Negan, The Cold-Blooded comes out they would need to go to sacrifice the chosen creature(s), but then rather than going to the graveyard they would of course be exiled and I would make the zombie token(s). And because of that, my understanding would be that I WOULDN'T ALSO get the treasure tokens, seeing as the creatures never made it to the graveyard.

However, I have also seen someone argue that you get both the Zombie and the Treasure token(s), because the sacrifice trigger isn't dependent on the creature making it to the graveyard, just the owner choosing to remove it from the battlefield.

I would love it if that were true, but I have a sinking feeling that I am right and that I would only get the Zombie token in this scenario, and not the Treasure too.

Anyone able to explain the interaction more clearly would be greatly appreciated!

My Suggestions...

Also you could try and grab Negan, The Cold-Blooded ... but that's up to you.

SO then the other thing. What do you do if someone throws Null Rod or similar?
