What kind of options are there in standard for preventing or stopping Bonfire of the Damned ? I know Witchbane Orb but is there anything else?
What about other forms of board wipes?
You can't prevent or stop a Bonfire of the Damned in mono green except if you destroy all his red mana sources with multiple Acidic Slime ... One way board wipes are always a pain in the ass, but you could be able to bounce back on your feet soon after if you didn't overextended and if you played safe. With creatures like Strangleroot Geist or Thragtusk it's easier to come back because you will still have creatures on the field even after the wipe. Except for creatures like them, green does not have a lot of answers against it. Sword of War and Peace to protect your creature from exploding, but it's going to rotate soon.
I hope it helped.

Creeping Renaissance is always nice. Good utility, too. If you splash white, there's a card in M13 that undoes board swipes.

Sword of War and Peace won't help Zadkiel
The general rules of protection from colors
- Can't be targeted by that color
- prevent all damage dealt by that color to creature
- creatures of that color can't block protected creature

Yes but I though it would protect the creature from the x damage. you said it yourself, it ''prevents all damage dealt by that color to creature''. So protection from red would prevent the damage from Bonfire of the Damned , no?

Funny thing rule 2 only applies to creatures.
for example
Progenitus can be killed by Day of Judgment but that's beside the point.
I don't want someone going out to get an expensive card due to false information.

I'm pretty sure i'm right when I say that a creature with protection from red won't die to Bonfire of the Damned . If you don't believe me search the internet or even this site.

Yeah, Zadkiel is right. As you said, it prevents DEBT
Damage
Enchant/Equip
Block
Target.
Let's read Bonfire of the Damned :
"Bonfire of the Damned deals X damage to target player and each creature he or she controls."
So Bonfire does X damage to each creature he controls. As you know, protection stops damage. Therefore, Sword of War and Peace protects the equipped creature from Bonfire.

This applies to Slagstorm , Whipflare , Blasphemous Act etc. also
However, as you said, a pro-white card would not be protected from Day of Judgment . That is because it is not doing any part of DEBT to any creature. Therefore, protection doesn't matter. Even Emrakul, the Aeons Torn dies to Day of Judgment . But this is a completely different animal.

Dungrove Elder should be able to survive most bonfires, considering that the green deck is better at getting lands into play than any other color.
Strangleroot Geist , Young Wolf , and Thragtusk are resistant to bonfires too.
Viridian Emissary doesn't mind being sent to the graveyard. Wurmcoil Engine is also good against bonfire.

Thrun, the Last Troll literally trolls bonfire as well as other regenerating creatures like Wolfir Avenger try to have these two or one of these creatures on the field so that u have some sort of defence also undying is nice too Vorapede or Strangleroot Geist and even Young Wolf

By far the best way for green decks to get by bonfire is to just play around it. As in every match up against sweepers, you should never dump out your hand and leave yourself that vulnerable to sweepers or mass removal. Having lots of indestructible, undying, regenerate, and pro red creatures all help to lighten the blow bonfire can make, but the best way to get around it is to just play around it. You are never going to be able to completely nullify bonfire unless you play witchbane orb because at worst, they are getting some burn damage in.

I played against naya pod(presumably, I didn't see a single birthing pod. with my mono-green deck last fnm, and got bonfired. It ended up killing 2 Llanowar Elves , 2 viridian emissary, and left my Dungrove Elder . alive. I ended up winning handily anyway.

Add Kessig Cagebreakers and hold them in your hand until after a boardwipe. Then you play them and get a 2/2 Wolf for each creature that died, every single turn.

Seriously, nobody thought of Gutter Grime ? I'd love to dare my opponent to wipe my board of many mana dorks and a few big guns, heh.

The best way for mono-green to avoid board wipes is to play around them. Always keep some cards in hand so that if you get wiped you can rebuild right away.
The only green card I can think of that helps explicitly against board wipes is Fresh Meat . It doesn't help against Terminus , though.
