First changes after several Oath nights —Sept. 8, 2019

Cards that left the deck:

  • Bojuka Bog : I prefer to play as fast as possible and having a tapped land in the first few turns can really slow my game.
  • Swamp : I think cutting one land and going for a total of 21 lands is alright when the cmc of this deck is currently 2.82.

Cards that have been added:

  • Golden Demise : Token swarm and aggresive decks are a huge part of my meta. This card should keep them in check and offers an asymetric effect lategame.

  • Ash Barrens : Mana fixing can be a huge thing for this deck, since you need 3 black mana the turns you play your Sorin and your signature spell. This card is heavily underappreciated!

Creative use of Elderspell besides Dragon God, I like this a lot.

Thank you for the compliment Ferrahk.

I made some more changes (rougly 10) since you posted. I am curious what you think of the current decklist as it stands.

I am thinking about adding Bolas's Citadel as a wincon for this deck. But the cmc of 6 makes me wonder if it really fits the curve. My meta is pretty fast with decks like Wrenn and Six and Nissa, Who Shakes the World

Bolas's Citadel is interesting for this deck... but you're right it seems like it might be too expensive - maybe try it out? play a few games and see if you can bring it out comfortably. That's what I usually do with mine while testing stuff out.

After a good round of playtesting, I felt that the Legendary theme was limiting my play. I let go on the specific legendary theme and added more sac removal to deny my opponents from having a creature boardstate. I also cut down the cmc just below 3 for more deckpace.

What about Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip and Blood Artist ? Might be a little different from the theme you have but blood artist can work off of opponent sacrifices and your own, as well as Liliana flipping from your own sacrifices.

I like your suggestions for adding Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip and Blood Artist becks16. Really synergizes with the current deck strategy. Thank you for suggesting these :)

I also added Yahenni, Undying Partisan as it seems to fit this deck as well.

I am curious how this will work out during our next Oathbreaker night.

Very cool deck concept! There are some oathbreaker staples that I think will take your deck to the next level. You definitely need to add Dark Ritual as it is in my opinion the best card/sol ring equivalent in this format that will enable you to get far ahead in the pod. Vampiric Tutor / Demonic Tutor should be strongly considered. Volrath's Stronghold / Phyrexian Tower is a great land to supplement your strategy. With Dark Ritual/phyrexian tower, you should consider Gray Merchant of Asphodel as you can sac it and recur it as an alternative finisher. Cards I think can be cut are Drana, Liberator of Malakir , Sword of the Animist , and Dark Tutelage . Games are a lot different with 20 life/smaller library and often play out like 4 player modern therefore every card needs to be impactful. Hope this helps!

Hello Enral!

May I first thank you for taking the effort to look at my deck and giving me some really solid suggestions. It is very appreciated!

Dark Ritual will be added. Looking at the Oathbreaker format, which differs hugely from EDH, I think you have a solid point here.

The mentioned tutors are interesting, but sadly I do not own any spare copies. So this is something for a later time.

Volrath's Stronghold and Phyrexian Tower are really good and luckily I have them both available.

Gray Merchant of Asphodel is an interesting pick and I think you are spot on when it comes to having an alternative wincon available. I am going to test this soon.

I also added Mind Stone as a lower cmc mana rock. Early game it's very functional and lategame it can give me a draw when it becomes obsolete.

I kept Dark Tutelage in the deck. Dark Confidant should be a better pick, but I do not own this card (yet). But the card advantage is good and my lifegain options can handle the loss.

Thanks for your comment sir! If you spot any weaknesses or alternative options, then I am eager to learn about them :-)
