Cuts and Additions —Jan. 30, 2019

Cuts Defiant Bloodlord, Treasury Thrull, Krav, the Unredeemed, Regna, the Redeemer, Castigate, Sign in Blood, and Chant of Vitu-Ghazi

Additions: Swamp, Sun Titan, Grand Abolisher, Linvala, Keeper of Silence, Toxic Deluge, Phyrexian Arena, and Aetherflux Reservoir

Defiant Bloodlord could've been used instead of Sanguine Bond when paired with Exquisite Blood; however, at 7 mana I feel like there are better plays. Vizkopa Guildmage alsodoes the same effect for only 5 mana rather than 7. I originally cut Wurmcoil Engine instead of Defiant Bloodlord, but after talking to some friends and thinking it over I decided that Wurmcoil Engine was better suited for the deck. At the earliest I get Wurmcoil Engine into play turn 2. That seems like more value than Defiant Bloodlord who is a very hit ot miss card.

Sun Titan is just a better Treasury Thrull. Better stats, an ETB effect and attack trigger, etc.

I was very excited to try Krav, the Unredeemed, and Regna, the Redeemer in this deck; however, they drastically under preformed in my opinion. By the time you could play them you've already got the board pretty well locked down. I think having earlier turn threats such as Grand Abolisher and Linvala, Keeper of Silence will help the deck out and keep the deck on a lower mana curve.

Castigate was a cool card, but I ran it mainly because I received a foil copy from my older brother. The card had sentimental value. Its effect was also fairly good, but I playing Karlov, and other various cards, turn two is better than a Castigate on turn two. As I move forward trying to really tune this deck I feel as though Toxic Deluge is better suited for this deck than Castigate. While the effects aren't similar, I've found it's a good idea to have answers for threatening creatures. One more board wipe won't hurt this deck. Especially because this one is better than Black Sun's Zenith; however, both are still good. That's why I chose to keep them both in the deck.

Sign in Blood is almost a Carbon copy of Night Whispers:, but it costs to Black rather than a Black and a colorless. Cutting Sign in Blood for Phyrexian Arena was a no brainer. Phyrexian Arean: is a better investment. Sign in Blood gives you that instant gratification, but when you think about it Phyrexian Arena helps the deck so much more. Paired with Necropotence, my favorite card in the game, this Phyrexian Arena still lets you draw a card every turn on top of what you get off Necropotence. It seems like a win, win.

Last but not least is Chant of Vitu-Ghazi. This card over preformed. I included it back when this deck was on a budget and kept it in because it won me so many games while I had Test of Endurance and Felidar Sovereign on the field. But alas, it's time to cut it and give into peer pressure. I've finally decided to add Aetherflux Reservoir to the deck. I'm not going to go into a full break down of it's possibilities here, but I'm expecting card to win me a ton of games. Look in the description for a full break down.

I really like this. Has a lot of cool interactions and win cons.

I would try running an Alhammarret's Archive since it does the same as Rhox Faithmender and Boon Reflection but gives you card draw as well!

Thief of Blood is also a good card to interact with your Celestial Convergence

Solemn Offering is also there. Slower but does give the option of enchant removal.

Hope these helped!
