Ixalon Jund Hapatra

Standard BRG (Jund)

Stan_Bandhoof

Sideboard

A Jund deck focusing on Both Hapatra and Soul-Scar Mage.

IMPORTANT NOTE cards featuring the aftermath ability are not accurately represented in the mana curve chart down below. Most single casts of a card are 2 mana.

This deck is not aggro, although some games may act like it. The low curve functions to play many cards in the early game to grab a decisive foothold on the game. A turn two Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and a turn three Obelisk Spider is enough to lock down the board for multiple turns. Any attack is likely pointless as creatures with power 3 or less can't attack safely, and creatures with power 4 or greater can't attack without being shrunk, having the player lose life, and gaining you a 1/1 deathtouch creature. This is one of many examples, being that this deck is made for control more than anything.

Think Allies, where each creature has an additive bonus to everything else. Losing a creature is a big deal unless its 2 cmc or less.
