Do you like unexpected moves? Cuz I do —Nov. 4, 2020
Hi millers! I am here with my new UB mill version! This time I am trying a version with more creatures: I love Thieves' Guild Enforcer and in mill she can be very strong, it's a 1 mana 3/2 creature that can remove creature istant speed, attack planeswalkers, finish our opponent if he looses lots of life on his own, defend us and she mills too, we can also take her back to the batterfield from the gravyard with Lurrus of the Dream-Den. Another important factor that makes she strong, is the fact that we can cast her at istant speed and our opponent didn't expect us to play her, so we surprise our oppo with an unexpectet move! I also added 2 copied of Maddening Cacophony to make the deck a bit faster, and a Mission Briefing becosue I think that this card have a lot of potential, and it can be very useful and versatile in every situation (it is never a dead draw). BTW this is not the definitive version, I want to play Fraying Sanity again, in combo with Maddening Cacophony so i am working to this list a lot. Not lots of new updates other than this, but get ready for my new version! Mill 4 the win!

Hi Vinman, for the UBG version, Assassin's Trophy is very strong. Unfortunatly i don't really like the splash of green in mill, like the UBW version,it makes the manabase unstable (in my opinion). I know that Leyline of Sanctity is a very big problem for us, but we can be very creative with answers: did you think about siding Thassa's Oracle and milling yourself? It's a very good strategy, not only vs Leyline of Sanctity, but is very good vs dredge, decks who has Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, Gaea's Blessing ecc (is really good in mirror matches too). We have Set Adrift, Stern Dismissal, we can counter it with Drown in the Loch. We have losts of answers, without needing green. But this is just my personal opinion :) Anyways, u can play Assassin's Trophy in mainboard, is a good good removal, and 1 or 2 Nature's Claim in SB. But in my opinion the best version of mill still UB. (I am working on a new list, this one is just a test). BTW ty for your comment. I hope I have told you something useful.

SentinelElf2711 thank you for the suggestions. I did more research of UB decks and saw Stern Dismissal as a solid T1 answer (as we want to start milling asap). I liked the idea of Assassin's Trophy, again as a way to force a search for our opponent. The splash for green is not awful. I would just replace a Watery Grave with Breeding Pool to help. If it's only 1 Green pip, I don't see the huge issue. It's not a hard green push. Thassa's Oracle is a very interesting option. Didn't think about self mill then win off of it. I'm still tweaking on paper, so I don't have an updated list to show you on tappedout. Thoughts on Hunted Horror as an unconventional answer to Leyline?

Vinman Hi again :) I don't think green spalsh is awful, i tested it when Assassin's Trophy was announced, and it was nice, I just prefer the UB version XD. Anyways Hunted Horror is a really nice card, but is strong only vs Leyline of Sanctity so is a card that you put in your SB just for one card. So in my opinion it's not enough versatile and it can be easily removed with any removal so it's week in my opinion. If u want to play big creatures at low cost i suggest instead Jace's Phantasm or Thieves' Guild Enforcer that is a really strong removal too. In combo with Lurrus of the Dream-Den they are really fun to play and Thieves' Guild Enforcer is strong too (in my opinion) and I want to test her. Anyways, thanks for your comment :)

SentinelElf2711 Hey again. So I have my main board complete but would like some suggestions for a side board. I know it's meta dependent but I'm torn with choices. I know I want Lurrus of the Dream-Den and Ashiok, Dream Render. Any advice would be apprecaited. UB MILL

I haven't played my modern mill deck in years and with Ruin Crab and Maddening Cacophony being printed, it has gotten my creativity going for the deck again and wanting to update it. Since I have been out of the loop on modern (I follow magic but not the competitive scene, I play EDH almost exclusively), I had to see what decks are big now. As far as a suggestion, that I'm thinking about for the deck with stuff that's been printed since I had last played with my deck, I originally had Nature's Claim in the SB as an answer to Leyline of Sanctity, I've thought about changing that out with Assassin's Trophy. It costs one more mana BUT it gets rid of anything PLUS the opponent can search their library, which is great synergy with Archive Trap. As far as my overall update, I'm trying to see if my mainboard should be more turbo mill or mill/control.
