final iteration to send out! —Jan. 10, 2019

Thank you to everybody who gave me suggestions and helped give me some confidence in this build. It's been well over a year since ive done any serious deckbuilding, so i was pretty nervous about getting this up.

My final tweak added copies of Blade Splicer and Soul's Attendant, and wow what a power increase. the two complement each other perfectly, and fall into the shell extremely well.

again, thanks for everybody that helped out! i'm sure my friend is gonna love this!

Look like a great list! Tempted to build this as a more casual deck to have and to teach new players magic with. You did very well for the budget and creature only restriction!

hmm a list with the rarely remembered 3x copies combo of Fiend Hunter and/or Restoration Angel, (fiend hunter holds down either another hunter or an angel, then an angel or hunter hits that hunter for the loop), you could put any soul sister or other etb matters abilities to abuse it. (or Seraph Sanctuary)

if you run some colorless utility lands, (Field of Ruin and Ghost Quarter are popular to fight tron, which looks to be a really tough matchup for this deck) Moorland Haunt is probably the most budget I can think of, you can run Eldrazi Displacer over the navigator which is massively cheaper on a mana base (I also suggest cutting the leviathans for the same reason, in any modern game vs any quarter decent deck the leviathan is never getting cast without you already having won the game) and is a lot less restrictive in which target you can flicker with it (you can even use it defensively).

Oh Guildmages' Forum could be perfect for a colorless land with colored mana option with a utility (that is budget). Also Irrigated Farmland is dirt cheap dual land option as well that can even interact with sun titan I would suggest using those over the tapped dual lands (still weird cove is common and river was uncommon in that commander set...) you add dimes to the budget for more effective lands.

hmm now that I look at it you could probably cut blue all together Militia Bugler and Blade Splicer are both fairly good creatures and you could just increase the count of the various white creatures, Thraben Inspector is also a rather good 1 drop. I think Kitchen Finks got a massive price drop (UMA reprint), Gideon's Lawkeeper is also very similar functioning to a bounce creature, Mangara of Corondor is also rather good with flicker effects.

I should stop now... mostly skimming around death and taxes atm anyway now that I think about it.

Demarge holy moly thats a lot of suggestions to go through haha.

appreciate it, man!

adding some soul sisters could be a nice touch. i was struggling to think of one drops to fill out the curve, so that may well be the ticket!

utility lands are something i deliberately avoided. i feel like that breaks his creatures only stipulation. ideally, i'd run a playset of ghost quarter, and run Leonin Arbiter since i already have the titans in the list, and start popping lands. which is inevitably why i opted against Eldrazi Displacer. as for the leviathins, you're absolutely right about it not being a very good card. however, new players dig that stuff, and he even prefaced his message saying that she really likes dumping giant creatures out to win games. that said, i think it's worth sacrificing 2 slots for the style points in this case. just bear with me, by the time she's playing against meta decks, she'll probably not be playing this as a creature only deck anymore, so some liberties are okay.

oh man, did i ever want to include Kitchen Finks in this list! that card is a stinking powerhouse! even sitting at $5 right now, that would still amount to a 50% increase to the deck's total cost. Im just not sure i could justify it, and it would introduce two mechanics to a new player.

Blade Splicer is something i'm still considering. the deck could probably use a way to go wider, just not sure what id swap for it. the other four i hadnt thought about! nice! im not sure i like mangara or lawkeeper since they have to tap for effect, but ill test em out for the heck of it. bugler and inspector have me very intrigued. those could be very helpful!

thanks for your thoughts, my friend!

Hey, good list so far for a beginning player, I like where you're going with this. First off, I second the motion on Blade Splicer, it can be insane with flicker effects. It also combos well with Sun Titan and my next suggestion of Reveillark. Reveillark seems like it could be great with this list, many of your creatures have 2 power or less. Maybe even add Karmic Guide to chain the Reveillark, though that may be a bit ambitious. You might also be able to get away with a Brago, King Eternal in this deck. Too bad Phantasmal Image is so expensive.

Ooo, almost forgot, the new card from Ravnica Allegiance, Deputy of Detention, looks amazing for this.

Say, that's a lot of creatures you got there... Thalia, Guardian of Thraben could be very good in this deck!

if you look on tcg player now you'll see UMA Kitchen Finks is around $2 now. there was a point you could get them for closer to 1. tappedout just chooses the modern masters printing for chat.
