Merxvell thank you for the comment. I have decided not to use any M15 or Theros cards in this deck because I did not play during those blocks and I don't want to invest in cards that are leaving Standard soon. With that in consideration, do you have any new suggestions?

Hi FAMOUSWATERMELON! My mana was kinda messed up, but I have since made some adjustments. I have also made some other improvements to the deck. What do you think? Any new suggestions?

Mj3913, you were the first to suggestion adding in Inspiring Call and so far its play testing well. In a game last night, I went from one card in hand to drawing six from Inspiring Call. Those cards I drew won the game. Thanks!

qikink, thanks for the suggestion. You are totally right, Elvish Mystic is the better mana dork for the deck, but I didn't play during M15 and Theros Blocks, so I don't have those cards. And since those blocks are rotating out soon, I didn't want to invest in those cards.

Also, after play testing this deck many times, I realized I don't really need the ramp. Dromoka, the Eternal is my highest mana cost creature and I usually have no trouble getting to 5 lands before I get her into my hand.

Do you have any other ideas for my deck?

As for your other suggestions:

Avatar of the Resolute, I completely agree with you on this one. Problem is, I only own one of the card. When I get a one or two more, I will add it in. But then the dilemma is what I do swap out to make room for it? Maybe Sandcrafter Mage?

High Sentinels of Arashin was in this deck, but I felt like it was a bit too slow for this deck.

As for Ordeal of Nylea and Temple of Plenty, I didn't play during Theros Block and I don't have the money to invest into cards that are rotating out of Standard soon anyway. Besides that, they are great suggestions.

Enduring Scalelord: I struggle with this one. I had two in the deck and I wasn't really able to hit the infinite counters combo. Instead I just felt like it was too slow. Then again, if I run three or even four instead, it might be worth it. Would you trade out Dromoka, the Eternal for Enduring Scalelord? Is hitting that combo better than Dromoka, the Eternal's bolster?

Saberxbro, thank you for the suggestions. Inspiring Call has been added to the deck. As for Solidarity of Heroes, its a great card for this deck, but I didn't play during Theros Block. I don't want to invest in cards that will be rotating out of Standard soon.

mikeymicrophone, thanks for the comment! Akroan Skyguard was in the deck, but then I removed it for two reasons. First, I decided it was better to have creatures that came in with counters or could Outlast verses just sitting there waiting to be targeted for Heroic. Second, I don't have very many Theros cards because I didn't play during that block and I don't really have the cash to invest in card that are rotating out of Standard soon anyway.

With that in mind, do you have any other suggestions?

TheRedMage, yes Dromoka's Command is better than Abzan Advantage but up until last night, I only had one. Once I get a third one, it will be in my side or maybe even main board.

I ended-up taking out the mana dorks because, after play testing, I realized the deck doesn't really need the ramp. I did bring my lands up to 24 which has helped.

The Dromoka's Command should definately be in here though as a 4 of, so if you are going to invest in this deck, it would be a good buy.

I know the feeling, have you tried these gems from theros yet? Phalanx Leader and Reap What Is Sown with harden scales and a leader or 2 in play and the silly heroic trigger math gets hard counting all the counters you make on him and every other creature you have

I'm glad you found my suggestions helpful, you still had the scalelords and the heroic creatures in your deck when I made them, so some aren't really relevant anymore. It looks like you lowered your curve a lot, but you're kinda clogged up on 3 drop creatures. Have you considered Ainok Bond-Kin? It gives you a 2 drop to use until you get more Avatar of the Resolute. I would recommend running the one you have, that way you can get a feel for how it plays, but it won't throw off the rest of your deck much.

I would also recommend cutting the Blossoming Sands for basic lands. Your deck is fairly aggro, so the 1 life is definitely not worth the tempo loss of having your lands come in tapped and citadel siege is the only card that requires double color. Since you're only running 2 colors, the 4 windswepts should be enough fixing.

I know you said you don't want to add any Theros block cards, but in my opinion, you're kinda jumping the gun on rotation. I mean, it is about 5 months away. That's plenty of time to see a return on your investment if adding a few Theros or M15 cards helps you place high enough at tournaments to get prize support. I wouldn't necessarily advise picking up a playset of Fleecemane Lion or Temple of Plenty for example, but Solidarity of Heroes, Bow of Nylea, and if you add the avatars, Reverent Hunter are all very inexpensive cards that have a LOT of synergy with what you're doing here and it seems silly to not use them because they will eventually rotate out. Mistcutter Hydra and Ordeal of Heliod would also be good sideboard options for you.

Reap What Is Sown!

Have you ever thought about adding Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit in here? Although her mana could pose a problem, her ability triggers automatically, making you scaling effortless.

SirFowler Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit would be nice in this deck, but I'd rather get a second Avatar of the Resolute because he would bring in more power on turn two/three if I already have a Servant of the Scale in play.

Didn't wan to read all comments so not sure if these have been said but here is what I recommend. Drop some of the expensive outlast creatures like battle priest. Add one or 2 of Ajani, Mentor of Heroes as his +1 gives out 3 counters. Also add 2 of Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit, allowing you to bolster everytime a creature comes in. Combined with hardened scales is pretty rad. Hope this helps

ShardsCards, thanks for the suggestions. I do have one Ajani, Mentor of Heroes that I could add into this deck. Right now I do not have any Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirits but I am thinking about picking up a couple.

I would recommend Ajani Steadfast over Ajani, Mentor of Heroes. He's easier on the pocketbook and he gives all creatures +1 counters on his negative and his +1 is pretty decent as well when you have a flying, hexproof, indestructible, first strike, lifelink, 6/6 Fleecemane Lion with vigilenace.

Curious as to how many red decks this faced at Gameday Origins.

JKLawson89, thanks for the comment. During Origins Game Day the deck did not face-off against any Mono-Red Aggro decks. Against a Red Burn matchup Feat of Resistance and Inspiring Call help protect my creatures while the life gain from Abzan Battle Priest offsets direct burn. I will admit, most of the deck doesn't really get started until after turn three so it is a bit vulnerable to Aggro decks. However, if this deck gets a chance to setup even a small board state, it quickly escalates into a mess of counters.

Thanks. I was just curious as I faced 3 mon red decks almost the same card for card, with searing blood, wild slash, etc. Just seems it would take out most of what the deck is trying to do before it gets much of a chance to do anything. I dont really have a great suggestion here that others havent already mentioned without dipping into another color. I was jusy curious because a friend has a deck like this we have been testing, but our meta is full of little kids and no skill net deckers who run mono red.
