It's a Pauper Mono Black Control deck.
No reason not to run 4 bogs main. They're incredibly useful.
No reason to run Disfigure when Echoing Decay exists. Might cut these for
Soul Reap
, idk.
The best card in the deck is Chittering Rats, so Unearth functions as extra copies of it. It also makes Fog of Gnats signficantly harder to deal with.
Cuombajj Witches
does nothing that
Crypt Rats
doesn't and Fog of Gnats blocks all relevant creatures in the format. It's a significant roadblock for U/B Delver players and allows you to get to the mid or late game against them.
MBC is terrible at holding the monarchy, so instead of 3
Thorn of the Black Rose
, I have 3 Gurmag Anglers. You can't hold the monarchy with a bunch of 3 mana 2/2's and no fliers. Gurmag also makes my deck more "Threat Dense", meaning that a higher percentage of my deck is powerful and worth countering. Even with the absurdity of Gush & Foil, they can't counter it all, however. So if they counter my Gurmag that means I get to resolve something else.
Distress is a better Duress. I only play Pauper, but I heard
Thoughtseize
is a good card and it seems worth paying 2 mana for. It's there so I can force a Gary (Peace Be Upon Him) through counter magic when I need to.
Phyrexian Rager
and
Dusk Legion Zealot
do absolutely nothing and aren't worth it.
The entire reason you're playing this deck is for Gary (Peace Be Upon Him), so there is no reason not to run 4 Oubliettes outside of their exorbitant cost.
Maybes:
Mainboard pestilence isn't bad.
Cemetery Gate in the sideboard would make U/B Delver better post board. I may put one or two of these in there.
Black Ninjas would synergize with all of my creatures. Okiba Gang Wrench Minds them, but Skull Snatcher only costs 1 mana to Ninjutsu in so it's far less mana intensive.
Soul Reaps could replace the Echoing Decays based on the reasoning that Crypt Rats handles all green decks that see play, albeit losing 4 removal spells would make Stompy a worse matchup. Hmm, idk.
