There are a few ways to break the symmetry of Crack the Earth in modern. The first is by playing it with a Flagstones of Trokair out; you keep your land while your opponent sacrifices one. The second is by playing it with a Young Pyromancer on the battlefield; you sac the token, your opponent sacrifices a land. The third is by splicing a Spiritual Visit onto it, which has the same effect.

This deck's goal is to kill your opponent's lands with Crack the Earth and Boom (which works with Flagstones as well as the fetchlands) while keeping the board clean early on with removal and Mana Tithe . Eventually you want to establish a soft-lock on their lands with Aven Mindcensor and Crucible of Worlds / Ghost Quarter so you can stall until you win.

The Madcap Experiment and Platinum Emperion combo can be swapped in for Aven Mindcensor and Crucible of Worlds to combat the fast aggro matchups like Burn and Bridgevine. It's also a good mini-transformational sideboard surprise.
