Introduction

This deck is primarily based off of the Investigate mechanic prevalent in SOI and MKM, but as you can see, I only used Clue-cards from SOI. I vastly prefer the Lovecraftian-esque undertone of the art from that set, as well as the aesthetic of it being based more on the Victorian era. Seeing all those cards together gave me an Idea, however, and I decided I wanted to try and only use cards whose art is reminiscent of old fantasy and pulp-fiction book covers. Hopefully you can enjoy the aesthetic.

There's three main layers to this deck tied to Clue tokens:

Here's where it can get a bit interesting. Instead of purely using Clue tokens to draw cards, this deck utilizes Vraska, Golgari Queen in order to gain an additional point of health with each sacrifice and Pitiless Carnage to draw even more cards with lower mana cost if the need arises. All the while, sacrificing Clues will power up Bloodbriar, Ravenous Squirrel and start multiplying Homunculus Horde. Additionally, Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest boosts everyone else!

This is my favorite part. Zegana, Utopian Speaker will make damage innescapable for your opponents while Venser's Journal heals you from any early hits you may have taken. Lastly, the Human Soldier tokens generated by Ulvenwald Mysteries, as well as Sanitarium Skeleton, can be used as fuel for Ashnod's Altar so you can afford your big-hitters. At the same time you're gaining mana, Ruthless Deathfang will punish the opponent for your own sacrifices.

There's a lot of synergy in this deck but it may be spread a little thin. Play-testing will reveal what needs to be changed. I think it's a fun deck though, and I hope others will too.
