Pitch Blue is a control-combo deck that has existed in the back of my mind for about 5 years. With the printing of War of the Spark, there were now two Modern-legal permanent cards that denied your opponent extra draws, namely Notion Thief and Narset, Parter of Veils. These cards allow the player to break parity with Day's Undoing.

This strategy requires extremely mana efficient interaction and stalling tactics to pull off. The namesake of the deck comes from the fact that all of these cards share one important thing in common--they are all Blue. Every card in this deck can pitch to "free" interaction spells, such as Commandeer, Snapback, and Disrupting Shoal. Now, with newer, more powerful forms of interaction in Subtlety and Force of Negation, and extremely efficient counterspells in Stern Scolding and, well, Counterspell, I think we've hit a point in Modern Magic where this pile can try to work. Sink into Stupor   allows the deck to effectively run 4 less lands, giving us access to a higher density of Blue cards in the deck, meaning our pitch spells will be online very often. And finally Thing in the Ice   is our win condition, allowing us to bounce all the creatures we couldn't counter during the game, and we'll eventually attack for the win, provided we keep even more countermagic in reserve for stopping removal.
