See Double

Instant

This spell can't be copied.

Choose one. If an opponent has eight or more cards in their graveyard, you may choose both.

  • Copy target spell. You may choose new targets for the copy. (A copy of a permanent spell becomes a token.)
  • Create a token that's a copy of target creature.

KongMing I like where your head is at with your comment. The reason I play See Double over something like Fork or Reiterate is the upside of a modal spell. The amount of times see double is an instant speed clone, more than once coping something silly like a Solemn Simulacrum, has actually been relevant. The longer I've played this deck the more I've messed with ways to reuse spells without relying on kess being in play, and buyback did cross my mind before. Used to run Walk the Aeons in an early build with turn spells, back when "kess beats" was plan B. I don't see myself running corpse dance, as really the only creature I care about once it's in the grave is Rona, Sheoldred's Faithful and I can just discard cards as an additional cost to recur it. As for collusion, I very rarely spend 5 Mana to tutor from hand, increasing usually gets discarded to Faithless Looting, Careful Study or something else. Ambition is in the deck because if I cast it with kess, it only cares it was cast from the grave- not that I spent 8 Mana.

Have you considered See Double?

I have made several changes to this deck, as follows:

I replaced Vithian Renegades with Reclamation Sage, because the latter creature is more versatile.

I have replaced Vedalken Orrery with Tidal Barracuda, which is one less card that shall synergize with Wandering Mind but one more card that shall synergize with Riku, himself.

I have replaced Clout of the Dominus, Favor of the Overbeing, and Runes of the Deus with Galvanic Iteration, Regrowth, and Rite of Replication, since the auras did not match the theme of this deck, but the new cards most certainly do. I had contemplated putting Flame of Anor in this deck, but the deck contains only two wizards: Riku himself and Dualcaster Mage, so that card would not work well in this deck, and I also very much wished to put See Double in this deck, as well, but the fact that that spell cannot be copied reduces its potential synergy with this deck's strategy.

Amazingly, the average converted mana cost of this deck remained the same at 3.82, but the color distribution is now slightly different.

You can link cards by enclosing them in double square brackets.

See Double

See Double creates a token that is a copy of a target creature. The token was not cast, so you will not get the trigger from Skitterbeam Battalion.

Ok, here's our stack:

1: Lightning Bolt, targeting whatever.

2: See Double, target Bolt and Archaeomancer

Both players pass priority, so the stack is resolved.

See Double resolves, giving you a copy of Bolt, and the token copy of Archaeomancer before being put into your graveyard.

As state-based actions are checked, the Archaeomancer token's triggered ability is put onto the stack. You'll have to choose a target now, and as See Double is already in your graveyard, you can target it.

Going to close my answer with saying yes, Omniscience will allow you to win at this point. Then again, it's Omniscience. Why even pass your turn once it's online?

I'm wondering what happens when I cast See Double to create a token of Archaeomancer.

Let's say our opponent has 8 cards in his graveyard. He casts Lightning Bolt, and in response I use see double to both copy Lightning Bolt, and create a token copy of Archaeomancer. Would the token be able to return See Double to my hand? And if so, if I had Omniscience, could I in theory recast See Double for infinite tokens and infinite Lightning Bolt copies before Lightning Bolt resolves?
