SteelSentry on How Do You Feel About …

As someone who has a Magus Lucea Kane deck, it does have some upsides over normal copying, like copying the as well for abilities like Ravenous. That being said, it is a bit of a pain to track in paper. I have a problem with mechanics like that which are clearly designed for digital; Suspect immediately comes to mind. However, an expensive copy spell is much less feel bad than an expensive Clone that is vulnerable to removal, and outside that I can go either way on them. I didn't think this was a design space that could really be contentious.

I guess I should read the title. Is it safe to assume this is a Magus Lucea Kane Commander deck? If so, how many total lands do you have?

I've made maybe 10-15 changes from the original build to include more mana from artifacts and a couple lands like :Gruul Signet; Mana Crypt; Simic Signet; Taiga; Tropical Island; Volcanic Island. Came to include Benefactor's Draught. For 2 mana I can UN-tap my commander and any other creatures that may have abilities that can also UN-tap her for when you really want to get nasty numbers in copies off one specific spell while also drawing at least one card. The small downfall is the creature UN-tap for everyone, but this deck benefits so much more as long as a counter spell doesn't catch your target X spell in the end. Can't remember everything ive swapped out and in as a lot of it happened while i was tired but i tried to remove anything that would slow down the deck while trying to get faster access to Magus Lucea Kane and more pop off directed towards her spell/ability copy.

I really like how you’ve upgraded this precon! I am fanatical about RUG, built 4 decks, and am toying with a deck using Magus Lucea Kane too. (Definitely looking at yours for ideas). I will say tho, Blue Sun's Zenith is unfortunately banned in EDH in case you hadn’t seen that.

I think your deck is awesome and true to tyranid. I also tried to do something similar but I tried to lean more heavily into the “X” mana cost spells to really make Magus Lucea Kane pop. Check out my deck and see if there is anything you may be able to take away Tyranitar Deck

Thanks for the suggestions TheGeneralSnowman! You're correct about the 3 cmc rock neglect lol I have a special lack of appreciation for Astral Cornucopia because of Everflowing Chalice and the ability to have a similar rock (granted without color options) but a turn sooner at the earliest. For an X deck, the color doesn't matter as much as the mana itself. This is true enough to where I'm also considering removing Phyrexian Altar in favor of Ashnod's Altar for a better creature-mana benefit. I like Reflections of Littjara. The doubling regardless of X ability is a good add since Magus Lucea Kane can only double the Ravenous Tyranids. I'm not sure what I'd swap for it yet but I'll definitely be giving it a try

Thanks for the suggestions unstable_anomaly! I played around with some of these to start with but as you'd noticed, with it being Nids Tribal, some didn't fit off the bat. I did playtest with Kindred Discovery and found that between Garruk's Uprising, Temur Ascendancy, Bred for the Hunt and how the mechanic Ravenous works, the 5 mana slot didn't add much to the deck that it didn't already have available so it didn't feel worth playing very often. I like Open Into Wonder but have also noticed that except for a few cases where I can get my token Nids out, my board only has on average 2-4 creatures throughout the game (Mostly due to healthy amounts of table interaction lol) I'm hesitant to put a card in that requires a board state to work at all because of that. I think Pest Infestation is an incredible card and admittedly overlooked it for this deck since it isn't a token deck. However, with how Magus Lucea Kane works, it seems like a no brainer. Thanks for all the suggestions and your time!
