enpc Lightning Bolt , Lightning Helix , and Prismatic Ending (if a splash works in the mana base) were my main considerations, along with path if things like eldrazi and troll king get more popular. It's just that bolt for 2 or helix for 3 feels so bad a lot of the time.

seshiro_of_the_orochi I'm running a couple of Solitude s, hadn't really considered Fury . The problem is that the play pattern becomes turn 1 Ragavan, turn 2 pitch 2 cards to kill a creature so Ragavan gets me a treasure and deals 2 damage. That just doesn't feel great, but your creature based removal idea may be good enough. Something in the vein of Flametongue Yearling or the like.

Thanks for the input, Jackfrost23. I like the idea of Vexing Devil , but I think Flametongue Yearling is just a weaker, redundant Fury . I’d seldom have the extra mana to spare for its kicker cost, so I’d rather use the blink spells on either of the aforementioned creatures.

I think the deck needs more creatures with ETBs to really abuse Ephemerate . I don't know which would work best but maybe Vexing Devil (cast Ephemerate in response to your opponent taking the damage making them take an additional 4) or Flametongue Yearling .
