R1 vs Boss Red: 2-1 R2 vs U/W Heroic Control: 2-1 R3 vs Mono Black splash White: 2-0 R4 vs Jund Ramp Control: 2-1 Top 8 R5 vs Junk Midrange: 2-1 R6 vs Boss Red: 2-0 R7 vs U/W Heroic Control: Opponent Conceded My deck doesn't usually win 2-0, even before it had that problem, but in the end it usually pulls through for me, not being a top deck really gives me an advantage as well with opponents sometimes not knowing what to sideboard in for me.

Sorry I have been away from the game for a couple months but I will be at a tournament this week to continue testing the addition of Thunderous Wrath. It did very well thus far but I need to run it a few more times to make sure.

6-27-14 FNM results

I went 4-0 ,overall first place 2nd place had a record of 3-0-1( I still would have won outright from tiebreakers though), against the toughest local gaming store for FMN, only had 1 match loss so ended the night going 8-1 overall record. I Played a esper control, fringey lockdown deck first round the the lock down happened one game i lost even with garruks emblem out and slamming 5 creatures a turn. Then I swept a typical competitive Junk deck, its just a bad matchup for them, then swept against boros burn, slamming arbor colossus is really good against them. then swept mono green small guys, It was rough first couple of turns, then I just went over the top and beat the piss out of him when he had no gas left. I have never cracked garruks emblem with this deck prior to this tournament and I cracked it 3 times that night.

The thought of revamping this deck once we lose Hellkite Tyrant is in the back of my mind.. I'm hoping for another card that benefits for mass numbers of artifacts to be spoiled for M15.

Another One Bites The Dust

Another FNM down. Tons of people there, 6 rounds of standard (no top 8).

Went 4-2, placed 10th. The games I lost were just terrible. Lost 0-2 to Boss Sligh because I had no more than 2 lands for both games, both in my starting hand. I had answers and fuel in my hand to easily win the game, but didn't draw the lands to play them.

The other set I lost was a 1-2 vs Brave Naya. Weirdest games of magic I've ever played. First game, he kept a 1 land hand and drew NOTHING else. Second game, I kept a 2 land hand, and never drew a black mana source. Third game was actually close. Basically, we played a 1-of, and he top decked me for the win (we were both in position to win with one good draw phase).

The other four games I won: 2-1 Mono Blue Devotion; 2-1 Jund Monsters; 2-1 I don't remember; 2-0 Mono White Aggro

I completely blew the mono white out of the water. Out aggroed the aggro deck. Jund when I beat him, I beat him easily. The game I dropped was from lack of lands. Mono blue I beat pretty handily. Game 2 he barely took off me. And my third win I don't remember what he was playing. It was some kind of junk/jund mid rangey deck. Lost the first game, went to side board, and beat him easily the last two.

The meta game is shifting away from control pretty heavily. Lots of aggro and tempo decks where spot removal is the bee's knee's. So I've swapped my Pithing Needle out for Magma Spray in my sideboard. In the main, I've dropped a single Rageblood Shaman and a single Deathbellow Raider for two copies of Mogis, God of Slaughter. There were a couple instances where the consistent 2 damage per turn would have won me the closer games, when I couldn't break through blockers. Otherwise, I'm in a good position to top 8. I am considering changing my mana base to 22 lands to ensure I don't run into mana screw, but frankly, I don't need 22 lands. Magic has an element of chance in the card draws, and sometimes you end up on the wrong side of RNG. I'd rather be mana screwed and have fuel in my hand for when I DO hit lands, than be flooded and draw nothing.

Top 4 in Paid

This week I made top 4 and all of the other people who were in top 4 wanted to do a 4 ways split so I figured I would quit while i'm ahead before I had to play control again. This deck never get's old, it still continues to surprise me, lots of fun to use still. I paid 4 bucks and won some nice little boosters thanks to this deck.

Reddit is a big help, dayum.

dropped Emeria, the Sky Ruin can't get enough plains in play to trigger. dropped Vizkopa Confessor for Archangel of Thune still trying to keep the deck price below $100.

Not exactly liking the exalted stuff in here, seems to slow. Any suggestions as to what I can replace with?

No comments yet, but I may as well share the following information: I love Mogis, God of Slaughter in this deck. His devotion isn't terribly hard to achieve with Underworld Connections around. I also feel that more hand disruption would benefit me greatly. The only great loss I would receive from a playset of Thoughtseize would be my financial one, as the in-game life loss is largely irrelevant.

Lastly, I need a way to control big, fat creatures better. Either Pacifism for extra protection, or Stab Wound for an additional clock would help immensely. Please help make this deck a beast!
