Would you consider running an Amulet of Vigor? You're utilizing enough tapped lands that it may be worthwhile to ensure you get the most out of your mana.

Massacar: I'll definitely consider it. The big question is: How do I get it? But would really be a good inclusion, thanks a lot.

Hey man, love the deck! The alternate art for Moraug is sick. Here are a couple of suggestions:

  • Etali, Primal Storm: What's better then playing your deck? Playing your opponent's decks. This card is ridiculous value, and super fun, too.
  • Sunbird's Invocation: Are you noticing a theme? I love free, random value, and no card does it better then this. It often gets you 4-5 cards on the field for 6 mana, which is an amazing rate.
  • Dockside Extortionist: Where is this???? It's hands down, the best red ramp spell you'll ever want or need. This deck needs more ramp to power out your bois, and this is the best of the bunch.

Well, hope this helps, and as always, Happy Tapping!

Sultai_Sir: Thanks man. I've used the last few days to massively tune the list. I like all of your suggestions. Etali should definitely be added, it's simply perfect here. Extortionist would be great, but it's just too expensive for me. Invocation is fine, but doesn't work well with my current amount of X spells.

Maybe consider Crucible of Worlds to add some land recursion for any of the lands you sacrifice etc.

Also since you've got evolving wilds/terramorphic expanse you should also consider including Fabled Passage just for additional landfall triggers.

January 5, 2021 1:27 p.m.

Massacar: Both of these are fitting suggestions, thank you. Crucible is just so expensive. I like Passage, but looking at how I already have six fetches for under 4 bucks, I'm not convinced I should add it. I'll definitely do so when I get a copy, though.

I got lucky and bought the Flashback deck, and Dockside Extortionist paid for itself. I suppose I got lucky. I just looked at the price tag of the deck, I didn't realize it was budget. If so, this deck is actually insane for being under 150 bucks. Great job!

January 5, 2021 2:17 p.m.

Sultai_Sir: I wouldn't exactly call it budget, but I definitely don't want to spend too much in my cards. Most of what is expensive in here became that after I included it into my collection. Thank you nonetheless for the kudos.

Have you considered Generator Servant , Dockside Extortionist , Treasonous Ogre , and Imperial Recruiter for your list? Generator is a great way to accelerate an early Momo, Dockside costs a little $$$ but is worth every penny, and Treasonous is an undervalued way to get HUGE swings of mana very quickly. And Imperial Recruiter can help find Magda, Brazen Outlaw easily... Seems like a great budget deck!

February 16, 2021 2:03 p.m.

Daedalus19876: All of these are great additions, thank you. I'll see if I can get copies of them, but especially Recruiter and Extortionist are way above my budget.

Naya Panorama and Jund Panorama can also search you up a Mountain. I would exchange them for Dormant Volcano and Zhalfirin Void . The Volcano is too much of a tempo hit, and the Void doesn't seem like a necessary source of colorless mana. Storage lands like Mage-Ring Network seem really clunky, too.

I'm not sure you're running enough dwarves to get anything consistent out of Magda, Brazen Outlaw . You also only have 5 ways that I count to make treasure tokens, and a few are one-offs. I think you either need to go all-in on the dwarf aspect, or pull out of it completely. I think you'd need to run somewhere around 20 dwarves at the least (more would be better) to get some consistency out of that strategy, along with some reliable ways to tap them regularly outside of combat, like with vehicles, Kyren Negotiations , and Dwarven Bloodboiler . The Bloodboiler will also help you to buff up your commander to get that one-shot kill in (provided he doesn't have shroud at the time).

Hopefully this is helpful. And let me know if I'm wrong about how consistently you are able to get the value you want out of the Magda plan here.

bushido_man96: This is great feedback, thanks a lot. I haven't yet had many chances to playtest the deck, but I'm pretty sure you're right about the dwarf plan. I love the general shell of Momo, but I'm kind of unhappy with the current build. Adding more dwarves might work, but if you have other ideas to make the deck more focused, I'd love to hear them.

Scour from Existence and Meteor Golem seem a little too expensive, how do you feel about Introduction to Annihilation and Aftershock?

Coldsteel Heart seems like an upgrade to Prismatic Lens, Commander's Sphere seems like it could be cut for Ornithopter of Paradise, and maybe Thought Vessel could come out for Star Compass. That should get you better access to colored mana, which it seems like you don't have much of.

If you can afford fetches... you know they're good. Enough said lol

October 10, 2021 1:16 p.m.

Omniscience_is_life: These are some interesting upgrades, thanks a lot for the comment and the upvote.

I'm not too fond of the mana rocks. Giving instead of is cool, but the upside seems minor. I'll still consider it.

I like Introduction to Annihilation, I'll try to get one. Aftershock is fine, but Scour and Golem are mainly to get rid of Planeswalkers and Enchantments, so it doesn't fill a comparable slot.

Some interesting tech: Ghost Quarter and Field of Ruin are Cleansing Wildfire on lands. I'd definitely run them.

If you can afford them, Arid Mesa and Scalding Tarn are at all-time lows, I'd snap one of each up as soon as possible if it's in your budget.

The big thing Moraug wants is to make several land drops in one turn, so maximizing the number of fetch effects in the deck is key.

One thing you also want is to cast Moraug as fast as possible. He is six mana and that can be clunky, to say the least. I'd consider rituals, at the very least Irencrag Feat and Seething Song, but optimally those plus Pyretic Ritual, Desperate Ritual, Rite of Flame and Simian Spirit Guide. Those can help you get Moraug out quickly or just let you slam your other big things like Etali as soon as possible. Consider cutting some of the less powerful things like Glint-Horn, Feldon and Magus.

I was gonna say "cut Felhide Spiritbinder" but with him and something like Terror, Fanatic or Combat Celebrant you can do some busted stuff. Neheb + Celebrant + Spiritbinder is pseudo infinite, by the way, and it just gets super busted with Moraug's "+1/+0 for each attack" clause.

December 8, 2021 10:15 a.m.

TriusMalarky: Thanks for upvote and comment! Irencrag Feat and Seething Song keep bouncing in and out of the deck, but you might be right about the ramp needed for Momo. So I added them back in. I'll consider the other rituals. The draw Magus of the Wheel provides is too important, but maybe I'll kick it once I get another draw spell.

Field of Ruin already is in here, but Ghost Quarter is a great addition. Wasn't this like expensive? Guess it's not anymore. I won't add the other two fetches, those are way above my budget.

Ghost Quarter hit about $4 when Oath of the Gatewatch dropped, largely due to Eldrazi Winter. The Foil Dissension is $68 though, if you want to bling.

I wouldn't play this deck without Feat, it lets you go t2 mana rock, turn 3 haste equipment, t4 Feat + Moraug and equip, then play an Evolving Wilds and swing in to kill somebody. Song is very very good too, of course.

December 8, 2021 3:54 p.m.

TriusMalarky: Just so you know, I'm about to update the list again. Ghost Quarter is already ordered, along with Imposing Grandeur and Smoke. Smoke is my new favourite tech piece here. I can easily untap my creatures, so it has basically no real drawback for me.

Crazy that you opened so many copies of Moraug. That only ever happens to me with cards that I was actively not looking for. Most recently, it was Sigarda's Summons from VOW. Got one from the booster bundle as the promo card and then opened another regular one and a foil one from a booster box. So lame! lol

Would Horn of Greed work well here? Or would that give opponents too much of an advantage? You could probably also run some fetchlands like Wooded Foothills or Fabled Passage, though I'm sure that's been suggested multiple times before. Finally, what about Explorer's Scope? Give it to Moraug, he attacks and (has a change to) find land, untap and swing again, repeat.

Smoke is a total gem here, by the way. Great find!

February 23, 2022 5:53 p.m.

KBK7101: Yeah, I got pretty lucky :)

Horn of Greed would be pretty cool indeed, but Scope unfortunately doesn't, as Momo needs the land to enter during a main phase to trigger. It would simply be too easy to go infinite with him otherwise. Sword of the Animist is simply in here for the ramp, as I went with a pretty high curve. Sword of Hearth and Home is similar, although the flicker is super-powerful. Thanks for the comment and upvote :)

Oops. My bad! That's one of those clauses that's easy to miss at first glance, much like the "If you cast it from your hand" clause or the "once per turn" clause that seems to be on a lot of cards these days. Those always trip me up. lol

Any thoughts on the New Capenna lands like Riveteers Overlook and friends? They're another set of double landfall and add incidental lifegain, but you don't get the same flexibility with timing.

June 23, 2022 11:41 p.m.

legendofa: I've had them in here for a while, but I didn't have a chance to test that version. I'd say the timing problem is actually pretty big of an issue. The deck has a limited amount of basics to tutor out, and maybe not having enough later in the game because these would trigger could be problematic. I guess I'll pass on them.
