Yet another slight variant of an increasingly popular standard deck. Thopters in Origins are bonkers and deserve to be played more, so I'm going to play them as much as possible through the next few sets. Suggestions welcome! :)
You might note that I've included a Ugin's Nexus, this is because of the hilarity that ensues of turning it into a 5/5, or simply sacking it for 5 damage and another turn. In actual practice, I've used this combo twice, and the second turn killing or sacking it entails typically nets me the game or close to it. Finally a use for an otherwise useless rare!
Most of my other choices are standard across other R/U thopter decks that have sprung up over the last month. I DO like using
Pia and Kiran Nalaar
in my Main, as the slight burn that they give access to has proven to be useful in several circumstances.
I'm considering adding
Mirror Mockery
as both a reverse control card as well as a token pump. This severally under-rated card has absurd potential in a deck where so many creatures have abilities that activate upon entering play. Whirler Rogue +
Mirror Mockery
is actually a very valid threat, and allows an additional unblock-able attacker. PLUS the thopters that the copy generates are permanent! An extra two thopters every battle phase? Yes please.
Like other thopter players, I've thought long and hard about Scuttling Doom Engine, and while I agree that it isn't difficult to get it out and it's nothing but profit on the board, I just feel like I want something else in that slot.
Flameshadow Conjuring is another, less useful option next to
Mirror Mockery
as a means of spamming the board with tokens, but does allow for a another attacker.
I'm just not sure what I want to switch out at this point... any helpful ideas you all may have would be awesome. ;)
If you read all this, please, let me know what you think! :D Comments and helpful criticism are very much welcomed!
