Sb better? and sb questions —Jan. 21, 2015

Deck is looking nice, I conveniently have a Anger of the Godsfoil so we can use that. Don't have some of the more expensive cards. I'm wondering how to sb I'm no expert

I tried Red Rock... Can it work? it does well but it also is inferior to its counterpart. Neither red or black can deal with enchantments.

Rock seems like it can fit Master of Cruelties nicely because the old Rock decks it seems had 5 drops as their win cons

It probably needs a board wipe mainboard I've noticed that's popular. Well we can try the Rock and see how it fits him

Wondering if 2 Lavaclaw Reaches is enough man lands or if I should go 3 or Ghitu Encampment which doesn't seem impressive

Took out Phyrexian Arena for another Thoughtseize and Terminate we'll see how it goes. May tweak that

Put it back in I was just annoyed I lost to a really fast infect deck and didn't have good sb cards. Still may go but we'll see

Trying a slightly different strategy, wreck their day up early turns, hand discard and creature removal, that's if you don't get the combo handy because that's hard to do sometimes. Will have to modify the sb for control if I decide to go this route

Have u considered Rogue's Passage I used to run it as a 1 of for Kalonian Hydra it'll work wonders with Master of Cruelties

I had it in the old deck I could probably add one. This setup has been doing awesome, I'm happy so far, can't vouch for Gut Shot yet haven't gotten it. Won a game with Lavaclaw Reaches even with his Phyrexian Unlife(his deck was real slow unless he got Delver of Secrets  Flip which I Terminated I believe) so thanks man! Is this considered Rock? Not sure

Sort of. Rock is specifically referring to a Golgari deck. U can read about it here under defining archetypes Modern Format Primer. It used be considered the answer deck because between Abrupt Decay Maelstrom Pulse Liliana of the Veil and Tectonic Edge u can essentially hit everything in the format. This is one reason will always be superior to a build. Where your deck falls outside of the Rock model is that ur creature base is a sort of combo focus and Rocks creature basis is economical. Low cost threats like Tarmogoyf and Scavenging Ooze that can progressively get better over the course of the game or cards that offer significant advantage like Dark Confidant. DC is in the sidelines in most current lists though.

This will never really be a rock deck because you don't decay, tarmogoyf and so :p
But your deck is getting way more competitive than it used to be at the start, even if there is still room for improvment
I just noticed something, why did you write in the description than only liliana -6 is useful ?

APPLE01DOJ thanks again! So it's not Rock but uses some of the main ideas also incorporating a little combo. I have something clever in mind;) I've read one of that primer actually I really like primers now (I never really knew about them) and read some rock ones. Still debating Rogue's Passage because I really like always being able to cast my stuff the turn it's meant to.

Yggdrasil60 true but we can try;) hey thanks man and yea there's always tweaking or if another strategy is straight up better we can do that. I did it to be funny but I wasn't sarcastic enough to seem that way I guess (stole the idea from this place in the way they describe Tarmogoyf)

I think I see how this could be a Rock deck. It's not running all the efficient stuff that normal B/G/x Rock runs, but the style seems to be very much the same, other than that you can't get Abrupt Decay in your current colors. So some people might not call it Rock, but I think it's a lot the same, so go for it. Also, I don't like Rogue's Passage because it's normally not that useful, and it's a 5-mana investment, which isn't good.

Doing some research here and other places agree, the original creator of the deck named it Rock because he dubbed Phyrexian Plaguelord the Rock after the wrestler 'The Rock.' It's interesting to note the current Rock decks don't have any 5 drops like Phyrexian Plaguelord but I do:p. Anywho Rogue's Passage, probably won't add it the deck, it's been doing fine and I usually end up needing all the colored mana I can get, not that that's a problem it works fine so far.

Also interesting (even though it's a legacy forum) that The Rock has a lot of variances between strategies and they have their own names. That's from 2009 not that it matters so much regarding names. I still want to just dub this 'MoCK'

The deck is definitely not finalized but I think it's much more under control than I felt is was, so Turn 3 win//MoCK on a budget
