Smothering Tithe —Feb. 22, 2019

A card that I've been wanting to test out is Smothering Tithe. I think that it is insane in this deck since it is so mana hungry.

Would it be time to reconsider restoration angel for the deck, seeing as you are now utilizing altar of the brood? It's also nice to have blink at instant speed because it can really throw opponents off sometimes. In your Parallax Wave update you mentioned Felidar Guardian and 4 other creatures to go infinite with Parallax Wave. You would have infinite permanents entering the battlefield with just Felidar Guardian seeing as you can just target Felidar Guardian 5 times each time in response to putting the previous targeting on the stack; Unless you mean to get infinite etbs with up to 4 other creatures, in which case you would of course be right.

With a card like Rune-Scarred Demon, have you considered the obvious Nexus of Fate combo to take infinite turns (or as many turns as Aminatou has counters)?

You'd probably want some other cards like RSD before you decide, but I would imagine it can be a powerful effect. Archaeomancer and any non-shuffle, non-exile extra turn effect can do the same thing, like Time Warp btw

coolmaster82: I'm still not sold on restoration angel due to it's limited applicability to creatures only. You are right about parallax wave in both instances. It all depends on what's in play at that time. If Altar of the Brood is in play, guardian and wave is all I need. If Gonti, Lord of Luxury is in play, then I would need the full suite to win.

SynergyBuild: Nexus of Fate is intriguing because it has a pretty steep CMC but it does increases the number of ways the deck can win. I might test it out just to see how it goes.

Oftentimes extra turn spells, while not easy to resolve, do win games, like a free Explore in some cases, with perhaps a combat step and walker activation involved here. I could imagine an Aminatou turns deck doing some really explosive things, but it would probably be another deck.

Lumbering Battlement from the new set should have a slot in this deck once it comes out I would imagine?

What about [Eyes Everywhere]? It can hit artifacts, enchantments and planeswalkers and is more difficult to remove. Also, if they don't have blue, they can't use the ability.

coolmaster82: Seems like a possible card to test out, although it is 5cmc which will add to the already cluttered 5cmc slots in my deck.

kirbysan: That card seems pretty good in Aminatou builts that leverage on donating/stealing stuff, unfortunately my build is more towards goodstuff/value flicker which would not benefit from it.

Have you thought about Psychic Battle and Reality Acid psychic battle basically makes you nearly impossible to target with aminatou and reality acid straight up murders any perm whether it has hexproof or not hope this helped.

What do you think of the new Lumbering Battlement ?

Odysseus_97: It fights with a similar spot in my deck ( Parallax Wave ) but I think it warrens testing since it turns Aminatou into a pseudo-brago in a sense that you can blink all creatures at once. The value is definitely there.

Can you explain the Aminatou + Clever Impersonator + emeria shepherd combo? I'm apparently not understanding.

How has Spellseeker performed?

5/11 of its targets are tutors where 4 of those tutors puts the card on top of the library. 2 spot removal, 2 counters, 1 mass removal and 1 deck filter.

It has been quite underwhelming for me, and might consider replacing it with something else like Palinchron , Sepulchral Primordial or Brago, King Eternal .

Also, is Arcane Denial worth it for the single card draw compared to a clean Counterspell ?

blindes1984: You need a plains that can come in untapped and Emeria + Aminatou in play for the combo to work:

  1. Tap plains to float one mana
  2. Cast Clever Impersonator copying Aminatou (which will put Aminatou into the gy due to legend rule)
  3. Use cloned Aminatou to blink plains to bring back real Aminatou (which will put Clever Impersonator into gy due to legend rule)
  4. Go back to step 1. and repeat ad infinitum to generate infinite mana of the color the plains can tap for and infinite ETBs

Odysseus_97: Spellseeker has been pretty good so far for me due to the increased in consistency from the tutor effects. However I can see cutting it out eventually and making room for other toys. I'm actually debating adding Hostage Taker back as early game theft effect for my opponent's mana rocks to ramp me further. I do like arcane denial and has mana drain in place of counterspell. The additional card is important to me and is worth the downside in a multiplayer game.
