I've been consorting with some others on this version of infect.

I've done quite a bit of play-testing with it, and I think it seems solid, but I could use any advice to make it better.

Less land? More creatures?

(the sideboard is a work in progress, and is mostly to give the deck versatility and to be able to change into something else if it needs to.)

THOUGHTS?

I would take Emeria, The Sky Ruin down to two, In the games I played I usually didn't go to turn 8 and If I did I had already drawn Emeria, The Sky Ruin and an extra land coming into play tapped does actually hurt you a little in this deck, especially since you have a lot more higher casting cost creatures. I do like Indomitable Angle in the side board though, I think I may do that myself.

Great idea. I think that make sense.

I am getting two mimic vats for this deck. I'm thinking of swapping them out for the armored ascension (which pains me) but it seems logical.

Unless anyone else has a better idea?

I would like to see you take out the angels and put in a few Emerge Unscathed that way you can skate past any opposition while at the same time bringing down the mana curve. Really I like angels but by the time you have enough mana to play her the game should have ended twice.

Never mind you have Emerge already and I am just a tool that cannot read. My thoughts on the angel still apply though. Perhaps a few Livewire Lash that way you can emerge swing then condemn/oust your own creature to push thru that last bit of poison.

Contagion engine/clasp?

I would play the contagion engine! Great idea.

I don't think the clasp would be as effective, but I could try both.

January 16, 2011 3:12 p.m.

I could also play the livewire lash, but I have my playset in my other infect deck.

January 16, 2011 3:14 p.m.

i think you should switch the angels. Indomitable Archangel just costs a huge 2 less mana and helps all your artifacts, which equals bad ass, the other one is good but a lot of mana to cast and use its ability... Contagion Engine makes this deck pretty wickedly strong. i hate to just be another joe throwin in Mimic Vat but it would be sweet in here with Corpse Cur and against creature removal, not to mention any sweet enemy creatures your infectious army may take down. control might rape you, but idk what to do about it...

January 19, 2011 1:13 a.m.

I think I will stay away from the livewire lash...this deck seems to work well without it, unlike my U/B/R infect deck.

I added the mimic vat. Of course, it works extremely well.

I think I will still leave the Indo. Angels in the sideboard unless I play control. If I give my infect shroud it could also affect me and my ability to cast spells onto my creatures. I could SB the angels against other things too, like maybe RDW as well. The Corpse cur is sweet with the Mimic Vat AND Emeria, the Sky Ruin.

I need to get 2 contagion engines. I think I could add them in and remove the Steel Overseers if needed.

I'd watch out for the rare black leyline users (blanking on the card name). Or anything else that exiles your graveyard, because that would destroy everything wonderful you're doing (this is why I myself am buying said leylines, particularly fun against Pyromancer's Ascension decks, but I digress). Grab some Preists of Norn from the new set the INSTANT you can, cause that vigilance would kill here.

January 19, 2011 4:33 a.m.

Yeah. Leyline of the void and bojuka bog could ruin my day.

I feel like I don't see much of that competitively.

I agree that some norn priests could be good for me. Are they uncommons or commons?

January 19, 2011 12:04 p.m.

How about silence, for control decks? Or maybe in general for any deck?

I can't decide if it should take up spots mainboard or go sideboard.

I could take out oust or condemn against control to add silence.

This deck beats me a lot. But needs Isochron sceptors, who cares if they aren't legal. all decks need them.

Lol.

+1. 2 contagion engines would be sick in here, im glad i read the comments because i was gonna rave about it in here with all those 1/1 counters and infect you have. i feel like grafted exoskeleton is kinda just wasting sideboard space as the non-infect creatures in your deck, though powerful, are far and few between and all bring awesome effects to the table, not so much attacking. stick with attacking with your already infectious army and use those fatties for blocking and their effects and free up a load in your sideboard for whatever deck gives this one the most problems. mainboard + engines = fantasico!! i say drop the exoskeleton, 1 archangel, and the sideboard platinum for some more cards to take care of specific opponents. idk what you run into but huge aggro armies = Lightmine Field , control = Luminarch Ascension (drop that turn 2 on control and wait for awesomeness), burn, black sacrifice, mill = Leyline of Sanctity , stall til fatties = True Conviction . i hope you didn't think that every one of those ideas sucked. sorry this is so long

January 20, 2011 12:34 p.m.

and Silence is awesome if you choose to go that way either to protect against control or slow opponents. i have enraged my friend many a time with silences in turns 3,4,and 5. and maybe Arrest or Journey to Nowhere in place of oust for that little extra mana so you dont have to see those big uglies again. cheers! sorry to spam but if i don't i'll never get comments (Aura Power check it out)

January 20, 2011 12:42 p.m.

Yeah. Those are excellent sideboard ideas. I had the exoskeletons in there because I thought I'd attach them to the archangels, or other angels...but I like adding the leyline.

Luminarch ascension could be interesting too.

Lots of food for thought!

I already added the contagion engines to this deck in real life. So I'm set there.

Silence will have to be my next acquisition.

January 20, 2011 1:02 p.m.

Thanks. I updated the sideboard.

I think it is better equipped for various situations now.

I appreciate the help!

Its certainly an interesting take on infect. I like the white control of it. Maybe a tumble magnet for extra control or journey to nowhere. I'd probably take out two corpse cur for journey to nowhere.

Anyway cool deck +1 from me.

January 23, 2011 7:59 p.m.

Yeah. I could probably squeeze those in somehow. I'm reluctant to remove the corpse curs... As they recycle like responsible phyrexian citizens.

I'll try a couple things in testing and see how the journeys work.

my friend runs a similar deck and he uses Everflowing Chalice with Contagion Clasp and Sun Titan . sun titan can get back any fallen permenents like any infect creature, Tempered Steel , Mimic Vat as well as Wall of Omens and if someone used Tectonic Edge get back Emeria, The Sky Ruin and of course the chalace + clasp combo is just mana ramp but kills in a infect deck too. and allows you to play Platinum Angel and All Is Dust faster.
