In:

  • Golgari Thug - Dredge 4 seems decent, and the text box isn't completely irrelevant
  • Terastodon - destroying three non-creatures seems decent
  • Putrid Imp - it costs less mana for a discard outlet
  • Agent of Erebos - for mass graveyard removal; this was used against me recently and I discovered that it fits the mass grave-hate slot perfectly because it is a creature and it is and ETB effect
  • Corpse Connoisseur - I'm trying this out as Entomb on a creature; five cmc seems a little steep, but I'm going to test it
  • Woodfall Primus - seems like extremely good value; destroys anything non-creature and has persist, so it has additional reuse value on top of playing a reanimator deck
  • Rune-Scarred Demon - more tutors
  • Bloodghast - free recursive creature
  • Nether Traitor - an extremely easy to recur creature that can die to skullclamp
  • Damnation - black Wrath of God, just seems good
  • Butcher of Malakir - Fleshbag Marauder on steroids, why not

Out:

  • Sylvan Scrying - good, but just rarely ever needed
  • Primal Growth - great ramp, on theme, works perfectly, just hate drawing this late game and the slot could be better served
  • Wild Mongrel - found the same card essentially but one cmc less
  • Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves. Elvish Mystic - I'm cutting all the mana dorks that don't color fix; they don't have haste, they're decent early drops and great skullclamp targets, but having them late-game is not great
  • Krosan Restorer - it doesn't have haste, and having to delay a turn or waste time getting it into play after a board wipe just always feels bad; Deserted Temple serves the same essential function and is harder to destroy
  • Grisly Salvage - it's a good card, but I just needed something better in the slot
  • Phyrexian Delver - seems good, it's a two for one technically, but it honestly doesn't do that much unless you cast it from your hand
  • Temur Sabertooth - it served a purpose once, but honestly it is so severely niche, in that it can protect from spot removal through a RIP or Leyline of the Void, it's seriously not worth the slot and not at that mana cost

I totally appreciate the amount of time and thought you put into this. Meren is one of my favorite commanders and you gave me a few ideas so I thank you for that. You deserve more upvotes (or comments for that matter). +1 for you! :)
