Description

Basic plan is to keep all of their creatures tapped out to buff my Gideon's Avenger, and swing for massive damage. I'm hoping to get some Frost Titans soon to add.

Suggestions

Updates

Made a huge change to the deck based on suggestions, I still need to get quite a bit of the new cards, mostly the expensive ones.

I submit Gideon JuraMTG Card: Gideon Jura, Venser, the SojournerMTG Card: Venser, the Sojourner, and virtually all of the new DKA spirits for your careful consideration.

Dungeon GeistsMTG Card: Dungeon Geists Would be great instead of ClaustrophobiaMTG Card: Claustrophobia. Def recomend Gideon JuraMTG Card: Gideon Jura as well.

Village Bell-RingerMTG Card: Village Bell-Ringer Might be useful if you want to tap a whole line of monsters with your Gideon's LawkeeperMTG Card: Gideon's Lawkeeper and Avacynian PriestMTG Card: Avacynian Priest. Also, Niblis of the BreathMTG Card: Niblis of the Breath is a much better alternative to Avacynian PriestMTG Card: Avacynian Priest, especially with all the human decks I've been seeing in standard.

Obvious one, but putting in Seachrome CoastMTG Card: Seachrome Coast x4 and Glacial FortressMTG Card: Glacial Fortress x4 in exchange for 8 basic lands will make this deck even better. Tell me how it works out, it looks really fun to play!

What if they play no creatures? What is your plan VS control decks? Perhaps you can do something in your sideboard to remove creatures for fewer smaller creatures and a few larger ones as well as add in some control? Day of JudgmentMTG Card: Day of Judgment and DissipateMTG Card: Dissipate for example. Also Surgical ExtractionMTG Card: Surgical Extraction can help against control. Obviously not comprehensive but thought I'd share...I tried to build something very similar myself a few months back.

Due RespectMTG Card: Due Respect would be an interesting card to see thrown in there, especially in combo with Sunblast AngelMTG Card: Sunblast Angel, on their turn you tap everything and boom all their creatures are out next turn. Also, just an idea as a response to shawning, if you come up against a deck using minimal or no creatures you could sideboard in SpellskiteMTG Card: Spellskite x3 for the Stonehorn DignitaryMTG Card: Stonehorn Dignitary x3 to deal with control decks as you wittle them down. Surgical ExtractionMTG Card: Surgical Extraction is a must in your sideboard as well.

I would go with a land ratio of 7 PlainsMTG Card: Plains: 4 IslandMTG Card: Island. With 4 Seachrome CoastMTG Card: Seachrome Coast and 4 Glacial FortressMTG Card: Glacial Fortress, that comes to about 6 Islands and 10 PlainsMTG Card: Plains.

Thanks everyone, I'm actually going to get some Dungeon GeistsMTG Card: Dungeon Geists, Seachrome CoastMTG Card: Seachrome Coast, Glacial FortressMTG Card: Glacial Fortress, and Frost TitanMTG Card: Frost Titans. I'm also thinking of mainboarding some DissipateMTG Card: Dissipates and then sideboarding some other controll spells, hopefully Surgical ExtractionMTG Card: Surgical Extractions.

honestly i think frost titan is underplayed. You cant target him with inferno titans without paying 2 and if hes swinging every turn he can keep one creature tapped down indefinitely or he can tap lands.

I'm going to agree with a few posts here: Venser, the SojournerMTG Card: Venser, the Sojourner could definitely be added here to make the control elements of your deck by themselves a thing to be even more greatly feared. He forms a further point of synergy for your cards on top of what they already have: with Stonehorn DignitaryMTG Card: Stonehorn Dignitary, alone, aggro decks are completely shut down; it also gives a recharge point for your Tumble MagnetMTG Card: Tumble Magnet, and a reusable board sweeper with Sunblast AngelMTG Card: Sunblast Angel. Not to mention his ultimate - wooo! Also, Venser gives you more options to explore synergy between your control elements and win conditions, e.g., Frost TitanMTG Card: Frost Titan (which I agree is underplayed) would both be a win-con and (reusable) point of control. On top of that, whatever your win-con, you could eventually think of adding Day of JudgmentMTG Card: Day of Judgment whilst protecting the win-con with Venser's bounce ability. DoJ might clash with the avenger, but only by trading off with merciless board control.

Regarding your control question... I feel like your explanation is pretty solid for the NegateMTG Card: Negates, but you aren't ALWAYS going to tap everything on the board as you hope you could. Its smart to give yourself a backup plan if necessary, possibly filling in some spots with Vapor SnagMTG Card: Vapor Snags to control fairly quick aggro decks so you can get your creature tapping control out on the field. Just a thought.

You could throw in one or two Village Bell-RingerMTG Card: Village Bell-Ringer (one of my favorite Innistrad commons) so you could either get multiple uses out of each tapper, throw in some blockers out of nowhere, or tap all their guys and drop a Bell-Ringer to untap your Gideon's LawkeeperMTG Card: Gideon's Lawkeepers and such and then drop a Sunblast AngelMTG Card: Sunblast Angel and wipe their board.

Nice Idea!

This deck will utilized underplayed cards like Gideon's AvengerMTG Card: Gideon's Avenger, Sunblast AngelMTG Card: Sunblast Angel and Tumble MagnetMTG Card: Tumble Magnet. Nice to see a new kind of deck.

add:

Seachrome CoastMTG Card: Seachrome Coast and Glacial FortressMTG Card: Glacial Fortress - for mana fixing.

Frost TitanMTG Card: Frost Titan, Dungeon GeistsMTG Card: Dungeon Geists and Gideon JuraMTG Card: Gideon Jura

to make this deck more awesome!

I'm seeing a few decks that could stall or stop this form of deck and those being ones that focus on Hexproof, Milling or heavy countering as well as instant destruction spells. You might want to consider things like Witchbane OrbMTG Card: Witchbane Orb to prevent yourself from being targeted at all from things like Geth's VerdictMTG Card: Geth's Verdict, Burn in general and Curses. Elixir of ImmortalityMTG Card: Elixir of Immortality and the like would help against milling decks and some proliferate would help buff your Gideon's AvengerMTG Card: Gideon's Avenger if you managed to get at least 1 +1/+1 counter on it and add loyalty to your planeswalkers should you add any. But so far I'm seeing Hexproof completely shuts down your deck and the only way I can think of currently to stop that is to prevent it from seeing play with heavy counter spells or field hitting effects. That's just my take on looking over your deck, other then that its pretty sound, good job on it.

Thoughts on thrun, royal assassin, dungrove elder, acetesism, invisible stalker and basically every hexproof creature? You need hard removal for things like huntmaster and mayor of avarabuck, venser to use the same tumble magnet twice per turn. And to keep stonehorn bouncing. This deck is a metacrush (i would know ive played one for quite some time) and right now you overlooking too much, all your sideboard needs things that will patch its weaknesses, not contribute to its strengths. One thing this cand handle is hexproof, board a few days or hysterical blindness. As this stands, red green aggro will make you eat shit, spirits will make you eat shit, tokens should overwhelm you. but i think this will do good against zombies

Tl;dr sidebord anti- hexproof, mainbord o-ring

This is a bad deck. No chance to kill an opponent, no chance on tournament.

March 25, 2012 3:36 p.m.

Azureal says... #29

Its White/Blue, its not meant to kill the opponent its meant to watch them flap about helplessly while they try to get a swing in. That's pretty much W/U's stick, stall to victory, besides with the few good field wipes that are in the deck he could do some real damage with a clean hit. I used to have a similar deck but was mill based instead using things like Jace's ErasureMTG Card: Jace's Erasure with draw engine cards to mill out and things like Stormtide LeviathanMTG Card: Stormtide Leviathan and Norn's AnnexMTG Card: Norn's Annex To stop them from attacking, what we have here is similar, but unique. He prevents attacks with cards like Frost TitanMTG Card: Frost Titan and Gideon's LawkeeperMTG Card: Gideon's Lawkeeper and can wipe with things like Sunblast AngelMTG Card: Sunblast Angel and Day of JudgmentMTG Card: Day of Judgment if need be, point is it has potential and it does what W/U is meant to, stall the opponent and laugh at them while it either mills/pings/overwhelms them to death. This not even including of course Venser, the SojournerMTG Card: Venser, the Sojourner's -8 ability being stackable making it possible to exile multiple of the opponent's resources with something simple like UnsummonMTG Card: Unsummon.

Who cares if they're hexproof. Just don't target them, then nuke them with Sunblast Angel.

July 28, 2016 10:47 p.m.

Don't know if it helps much, but some modal cards likeOjutai's Command Azorius CharmBlessed Alliance and the like are great sideboard tech if nothing else since they will never be dead cards.
