I am trying to keep my deck anti-flashback and I need the extra evasion to get points of damage past

I'm a sucker for Invisible Stalker with card:Runechanter's Pike. If you like him I would take out Augur of Bolas for him.

Steam Vents > Izzet Guildgate . Also, add in Sulfur Falls . 4 of each.

Then add 2x Desolate Lighthouse .

Take out Think Twice for Izzet Charm , because Izzet Charm is stupid-good and Think Twice is too slow for Delver.

@zandl If you read the description I am trying to keep this deck as budget as possible and Izzet Charm causes me to discard 2 cards

@notan88 I really like Augur of Bolas as it can help me draw Instants/Sorceries and has Toughness 3 which is a great blocker against Zombies

@notan88 I am seeing that the metagame is highly removal so I am going to replace Augur of Bolas with Invisible Stalker

Desperate ravings instead of faithless looting? Fits your mana budget and is always a +1, unlike faithless looting

I see what you're doing here, and I like it. You might want to consider Goblin Electromancer , as it'll make your instants and sorceries cheaper, and he's a bad creature, either.

[Izzet Charm] is a power house in this deck, can shock, provide tempo and loot for cantrips for pike. I say at least 3-4 of

I respect the fact that you are trying to keep this a budget deck, but you really do need the good duel lands dude. At least Sulfur Falls. Also your side board seems really bad. you should never need 4 crypts SB. You should add some artifact removal and maybe some different counter spells, like Dispel or Dissipate

Thank you guys for the comments I will address them individually

@shirtninga I did originally have Goblin Electromancer in the deck however it was a little too slow and I didn't use it that much

@knapp42 Izzet Charm odes everything my cards do already however it does all of them worse. For Example I have Pillar of Flame to deal 2 damage and it also exiles for 1 less mana. I have Syncopate and Cyclonic Rift for counters and I have Desperate Ravings for the card drawing (it cost's 1 less mana and has flashback)

@Permafrost I have developed my sideboard in the metagame and I haven't seen much people playing artifacts and this deck has control in other aspects that is why it only has 1 counterspell. My sideboard is mainly against Zombies, Delver and Tokens which is really popular in my local metagame. I will add in Sulfur Falls as the time goes by

@OFABass I have used Goblin Electromancer and Syncopate before however after turn 3 my opponent can easily pay the mana cost. It would also mean that I would have to wait till turn 4 to play a spell (after casting Guttersnipe ) which isn't what I want in a fast deck like this

but for your deck, even the sucky Fleeting Distraction is a better draw card, instead i would up your other card draws

October 7, 2012 9:51 p.m.

shirtninja says... #19

Instead of Fleeting Distraction , they could run something better like Inaction Injunction , which at least locks a creature down for a turn so you have a chance to swing.

Would recommend cutting the extra card down to 60 from 61 and would cut the Evolving Wilds because they slow you down. The deck thinning is nice but you get that from your draws with Thought Scour , Think Twice and Faithless Looting to dump your extra lands. The only (X) you have is Syncopate and topping out at 7 cmc with Cyclonic Rift overloaded. Just a thought. Quick Izzet is mine and is similar but hope if you take a look you can get some ideas. Fling is the major difference that I have in mine.

How about Talrand, Sky Summoner ?

November 11, 2012 10:45 p.m.

zandl says... #22

1 card too many. 60 or bust.

Needs Sulfur Falls and Steam Vents and Desolate Lighthouse .

If you're going to use Evolving Wilds , at least use Izzet Guildgate . It's better in every way for you.

@brocker83 I don't know what I should cut to add in Talrand, Sky Summoner

November 15, 2012 1:56 a.m.

shirtninja says... #24

@ak3036 Mizzium Skin . If you're making a drake or two every turn, why bother making them hexproof?

November 15, 2012 9:38 a.m.

shirtninja says... #25

Also, I'd lose two Thought Scour and put in two Think Twice . If you don't want to do that, you should throw in a couple Desolate Lighthouse . They won't break the bank and they're a good draw engine.
