Here it is boys and girls! Mono red devotion is back!

This is my take on the deck. I've been testing this lately and I'm really liking the results. Please keep in mind that mono red devotion is not a full blown aggro deck, so the missing of one drops is completely fine. We give up the super early aggro game for a very powerful mid game.

Obviously, this deck has room for improvement, as I can only do so much testing myself, and this new standard environment has barely even been touched. But this is what I'm playing right now and I'm definitely open for suggestions!

Let's go over some of the card choices;

Creatures:

Mardu Scout This guy is pure value. Early game he is a dash creature that can either dodge removal, or cause your opponents to waste removal/creatures on him at worst, at best he is an early lightning bolt. Late game, he adds two pips to devotion and can be repeatedly dropped for Purphoros, God of the Forge triggers.

Eidolon of the Great Revel This guy is a house. Adds two pips to our devotion, punishes our opponents early game, and is a 2/2 beater. He may cause some damage to us, but it is easily out weighed if you know how to play him correctly.

Dragon Whisperer Once again, great value. Two pips for devotion, solid 2/2 beater. Late game, he is nuts. With all that extra mana from Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and nothing to cast, just dup it in to him to make him a big flier or to poop out some dragons with formidable.

Flamewake pheonix Early 2/2 flier with haste, adds two pips to devotion, and with all of the ferocious triggers in our deck, he doesn't stay in the graveyard for long. For this decks goals, I believe he serves a better purpose than Goblin Rabblemaster so he will be played as a four of.

Goblin Rabblemaster This guy is an all star and always has been. He just doesn't do as much for this deck as he does for others and I believe the three drop spot can be used otherwise, but he still deserves a spot.

Thunderbreak Regent My new favorite card from DTK. This guy is AWESOME! A 4/4 flier for four cmc, gives two pips for devotion, and makes our opponent think twice about targeting him or Stormbreath Dragon Just insane value in this card.

Fanatic of Mogis The devotion all star. He makes playing devotion worth it. About 90% of the time I cast him, my opponent loses at least seven life. And he turns on ferocious for Flamewake pheonix

Purphoros, God of the Forge An indestructible 6/5 that is easily turned on through our devotion, cause our opponents damage every time we play a creature, and boosts our team late game? Sold.

Stormbreath Dragon I love this card so much. Still undervalued in my opinion. The monstrosity is very easy to activate in this build, and he is a powerful flier with protection and haste. Still trying to decide if I should move something from the main to the side and run all four of them mainboard.

Spells:

Draconic Roar Pretty much always a Searing Blaze Very, very good card, at worst it's a lightning strike.

Crater's Claws With the amount of mana we can produce in this deck, this can kill any creature and most of the time just closes out games with a huge blast.

Artifacts:

Hammer of Purphoros Gives our dudes haste, and adds two pips to devotion. Still not completely sold on this, but we are trying it.

Lands:

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx Pretty obvious, a must have for devotion decks.

And 20 mountains!

Sideboard:

Stormbreath Dragon See above.

Crater's Claw See above.

Hammer of Purphoros See above.

Commune with Lava This card I'm not completely sold on yet. I feel like It could be really good against control decks. Cast at the end of their turn after they wipe your board and have a stockpile of cards to rebuild with on your turn.

Searing Blood I firmly believe this card is still good, and I think it can do a lot of damage against aggro/token decks.

Chandra, Pyromaster Helps in the tokens matchup, and for this deck is better purposed than Outpost Siege I feel like there is so much enchantment removal being played now that using my four drop on an enchantment and then getting two for oned by a dromokass command the next turn is just horrible.

Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker I just really like this guy. He is good to bring in when the ground is getting gummed up and you need more fliers/removal.

Roast This card is so good. Kills a majority of problem creatures in this format. Just not main deckable cause it can target players/fliers.

Alright so there is my write up. I would love to here what you guys have to say, Try the deck out! Comment and +1 if you like it! Leave me some love!
