Sideboard

This is a modern turbofog deck. It takes advantage of the fact that Ethereal Haze is an arcane spell, allowing us to use the splice onto arcane mechanic. As much as the Kamigawa block gets flak for being weak, the splice mechanic is really, really powerful, allowing us to use spells without having to even remove them from our hand. This means that with an arcane spell under Isochron Scepter, we can cast that spell every turn, along with any other spliceable card in our hand. This is obviously good with Spiritual Visit. Usually a weak card, a Spiritual Visit can be spliced onto an Ethereal Haze every turn with Isochron Scepter, giving us a way to flood the board while stopping our opponents from attacking.

Another cool aspect to the deck is the win condition. We need to dig though our deck for fogs, and the combination of Reach Through Mists, Peer Through Depths, and Sift Through Sands can churn though our deck, while providing a way to throw The Unspeakable directly onto the battlefield. Not having any other creatures means that our opponent most likely will have removal spells for our one creature. To protect it though, we have Blessed Breath, which can be spliced onto any of our spells, including leftover The Unspeakable combo pieces. There is still a chance of us losing our important creatures though, and for the more controlling decks with more answers, we have one AEtherling. Because of the cost to play it, leaving mana open to protect it, and leaving mana to play or use Isochron Scepter to cast a fog, this is really slow, but against grindy control match ups, the game will be like that anyway. Our last win condition is Kefnet the Mindful. When using an Isochron Scepter with a fog and splicing cards from our hand, we are doing powerful things without playing a single card from our hand. This makes Kefnet the Mindful a 3 mana 5/5 with flying and indestructible.

You may have seen the importance of Isochron Scepter in the deck, based on the mentions above, but we aren't going to draw the card every single game. To prevent this, we also run 4 Muddle the Mixture, which can search for any 2 cost spell or even protect our finishers by acting as a counterspell.

While the deck is fine against a ton of the creature heavy decks, the deck is very weak to any sort of disruption, as well as other control decks. Clearly, this is an issue. Does anyone have any idea of how to make it more competitive against a larger portion of the meta?

Finally, in game two we are in for some trouble. Most decks have sideboard against artifacts, and the deck is far weaker without the Isochron Scepter. To counteract this, I have considered creating a transformative sideboard to completely change the game, nullify our opponent's sideboard choices, and win game two after our fog plan wins game one. While I think the idea is a good one, the execution is rocky. I have no ideas on what to put into the sideboard. Transitioning into combo or anything with artifacts opens us up to the interaction our opponent brought in against us. Transitioning into aggro seems unrealistic. Any ideas?
