Hopping Over the Maze's Walls

Casual Combo Theme/Gimmick

Weikarczaena

54 land and 6 spells. A new spin on Maze's End deckwins.

Okay, so I have to give PainShake credit for the combo idea. This deck uses the same silly idea that their Zombie Hunt is best combo in Modern deck uses, except this one is for a Maze's End wincon!

How to Play the Deck

  1. You mulligan until you get Treasure Hunt

  2. You play Treasure Hunt and draw an obscene amount of lands

  3. You've probably drawn your Fastbond by now, so play that.

  4. Put every card in your hand onto the battlefield and win :)

At least, that's the basic idea anyway

Card Breakdown

  • Fastbond: It's not impossible to win without this on the field, but certainly makes it much easier. Being able to use Maze's End's ability to bounce it to your hand then then play it again immediately just makes securing the win that much easier.

  • Maze's End: Speaking of winning, you obviously need this sucker to close the game out. You'll be abusing its bounce ability in combo with Fastbond to churn those gates out rapid-fire style.

  • Glacial Chasm: Now this baby is arguably the most important card in the deck. Lets be honest, most decks out there win the game with damage in one form or another, so eliminating that factor altogether makes this a easy choice to include. Also... it can really hurt to play your entire hand of land with Fastbond out without some form of damage prevention. Again this card saves the day. The cumulative upkeep is a little rough, but since you can play a different Glacial Chasm to sacrifice the one in play you can reset the counter every turn since you'll be drawing your entire deck pretty much.

  • Tolaria West: This just helps with consistency. The transmute is hilariously perfect for this deck; you can use it to pull your Maze's End, a Glacial Chasm if you're running low on life, or the last gate to seal the deal.

  • Reliquary Tower: This is for those rare cases when I don't actually draw a Fastbond and I would have to discard a lot of cards.

  • : Note that each of these random lands has LIFE GAIN. So, when you finally get your Fastbond out (usually with Glacial Chasm as well by that point) then you're gaining a ton of life by playing a bunch of life-gain lands. It really helps round out the deck.

And there you have it! Not much else to this deck. It's just for funsies :D

As a final note, I do realize that this deck dies to any form of enchantment or land removal, but I didn't mean for this to be competitive at all. Most of my friends just play the usual creature-based decks so I just built this for fun :)

As always, +1 if you like the ideas and enjoy!

P.S. if anyone can make this deck more consistent and/or less susceptible to enchantment/land destroy, please let me see your ideas!

Updates Add

Doubled the number of each guildgate to make the deck more consistent and hopefully avoid situations where all copies of one guildgate end up in the graveyard (via mill or discard or whatever).
