This can be a centralised place where most of the discussion around Commander 2015 spoilers takes place.

The Wizards announcement with the release date and more details is here

So here we go:

Another year of commander precons and another year of excitement. What are you looking forward to? What do you hope for? What would you really dislike?

DobeNode says... #1

First wave thoughts:

Does Wizards have anything for B/W anymore except enchantments? I love that, and there's a lot of design space, but I wonder if it'll get stale. Daxos is cool, though.

Mizzix should be interesting, especially with the colorless spells we should be getting in the future. Scour from Existence for free?

Snakes!

I love Mazirek. I'm already thinking about build around him.

Myriad is an interesting mechanic. I see Voltron playing the Blade and Mirror Gallery. Would that be commander damage?

Confluences are cool. I assume green's will be a Destroy w/ Flying, 2/2 Wolf, and gain 3 life for 4GG?

nayrash5 says... #2

I love that new sword, even if it is a bit impractical.

JWiley129 says... #3

begins flailing vigorously

OMG THIS IS AMAZING!

The Flavour, it's killing me!

November 2, 2015 11:39 a.m.

Rayenous says... #4

@DobeNode. - No, the tokens would not deal Commander damage.... the tokens are not your Commander.

The Confluence spell + Soulfire Grand Master = 6 damage to each opponent, you gain that much life.

So... Mryiad... gets past Propaganda, Island Sanctuary, Norn's Annex, and all those types of effects, yes?

November 2, 2015 11:52 a.m.

AngryKitten says... #5

They enter tapped and attacking so yes.....I like.

November 2, 2015 11:57 a.m.

Phaetion says... #6

Lots of cool stuff today:

The new U/R legend has me praying for a large number of new multicolored instants and sorceries. Otherwise, I'm tempted to build this and Melek together.

Kaseto...I certainly was not expecting Snakes to be a thing, but it's a nice surprise. No less a Kamigawan surprise.

Daxos is also pretty tempting. Orzhov Enchantress could finally be a thing.

Scytheclaw....shiver

Blade of selves is cool. I want to use it, but I'm figuring out the best target that also works with flavor.

The Golgari legend is cool too.

I'm not really sold on the rest, even Kalemne's Captain.

The rest I'm not exactly sold on.

I kinda want that sword for Brago. Lots of etb effects in that deck, there is.

asasinater13 says... #9

I'll try out the sword in Prime Speaker Zegana. I'm fine just putting it on zegana, sacrificing all the tokens to legend rule, and getting excessive amounts of card draw in.

November 2, 2015 12:10 p.m.

asasinater13 says... #10

U/R could totally still have an artifact subtheme crosses fingers for izzet artifact commander

November 2, 2015 12:10 p.m.

AngryKitten says... #11

Yeah, that sword is gonna be abused.

November 2, 2015 12:15 p.m.

OMG AN INSECT LEGEND I AM EXCITED TO PLAY!! No offest Xira Arien.

Love insects and the sac buff fits in sooo nicely with B/G Tokens. Hes threatening without being overly so.

November 2, 2015 12:16 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #13

In case you missed it, Scytheclaw is a Living Weapon, with the quote in the article that spoiled it "the design team created the experience counter commanders with specific planes from Magic's history in mind, and then also created a cycle of cardsone for each deckthat would be mechanically tied to that plane as well."

Get ready for a New Phyrexian Commander!

November 2, 2015 12:29 p.m.

beakedbard says... #14

So Mizzix and Inexorable Tide anyone? Or just proliferate effects in general.

November 2, 2015 12:49 p.m.

kyuuri117 says... #15

Daxos the Returned is insane. Just.... insane. Screw Athreos or Teysa as a stax general, this guy is nuts.

November 2, 2015 1:02 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #16

I'm already brewing with Daxos, especially with how he interacts with cards like Glorious Anthem or Intangible Virtue. It will help me forget that I retired my Daxos of Meletis deck :(

November 2, 2015 1:06 p.m.

NixTheThird says... #17

Daxos the Returned made my eye buged out cause I hadn't realized they killed him in Theros block, but otherwise I'm kind of teetering on uninterested and curious. Really want to see the support they put in the deck for the enchantment maters theme.

OK, to me effects like Scytheclaw are just boring. It's difficult for me to put my finger on it, but I just roll my eyes at effects that scale with life totals. It feels almost lazy. However, I guess things like this are kind of needed when lifegain goes nuts and you got some 2/2 commander.

Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest, is getting slammed into Jarad, no doubt. Sheoldred loves this insect freak. Gisa will make friends with it after the second sacrifice (the first wave of zombies, I believe, would not get the counters due to timing of the stack). I also think it's awesome they went with permanent instead of creature, making me want to do a massive search for what other things I can force ppl to sac...

November 2, 2015 1:09 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #18

Mazirek works with fetch lands. which is pretty cool.

November 2, 2015 1:12 p.m.

NixTheThird says... #19

Also the sword that gives a creature myriad is... breakable, I believe.

November 2, 2015 1:49 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #20

New spoilers!

Talk about a BIG Clone and a great reprint!

November 2, 2015 2:20 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #21

Yeah I'm liking a Hydra Omnivore+Warstorm Surge magical Christmas land. Add Gisela, Blade of Goldnight too just for kicks.

November 2, 2015 2:20 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #22

I missed one. How do you like Blue cards that say "draw a card" on them?

Also, can we get this thread featured now that we're getting spoilers? Epochalyptik?

November 2, 2015 2:25 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #23

On it.

November 2, 2015 2:28 p.m.

tjcole1 says... #24

If I understand the rules right, then Master of Cruelties really likes that sword.

November 2, 2015 2:34 p.m.

Im really excited for this card... whatever it is...

Who is this?

November 2, 2015 2:44 p.m.

klone13 says... #26

If fiery confluence was an instant I would consider playing it in legacy.

November 2, 2015 2:47 p.m.

NixTheThird says... #27

tjcole1 yeah, things like that make me think the sword will do work in the right deck. At least it has a high equip cost and has to be cast at sorcery speed... surely no one would pair that up with abilities that cheat out equipment... surely........

November 2, 2015 2:49 p.m.

Gruss029 says... #28

Any ability that has "whenever ~ attacks" won't trigger off the blade. They just enter and are labeled attacking because they weren't present at the declare attackers step. See rulings on Kaalia of the Vast. So unfortunately Master of Cruelties doesn't do much.

November 2, 2015 3:05 p.m. Edited.

benelas16 says... #29

It looks like Savra. Remember all the commander decks before this one came out with 3 types of legends you could use as the commander. the second C13 had one planeswalker instead, but you get the gist.

To everyone else, Daxos is coming out of that deck and Teysa, Envoy of ghosts is going in. Daxos is going into my Ertai, the corrupted constellation deck; Ill probably remove triad of fates for it...we'll see

erabel says... #30

JWiley129: Source on the Karmic Justice reprint?

November 2, 2015 3:07 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #31

I'm thinking Skullbriar reprint. He fits the +1/+1 counter theme and also the permanace of experience counters.

November 2, 2015 3:14 p.m.

veritas723 says... #32

i know there's big angels and whatnot in boros colors, but was i the only to think of dashing in Sprinting Warbrute to just bank up counters.

November 2, 2015 3:15 p.m.

Jay says... #33

I am WIGGING out over this shit man

I need to find money fast

November 2, 2015 3:25 p.m.

benelas16 says... #34

You can get better than sprinting warbrute, for 4mana. Skullbriar? I don't seems really early for that

November 2, 2015 3:27 p.m.

JohnnyBaggins says... #35

Daxos leaves me mainly unimpressed. Makes me wonder though, will we get a Elspeth-Planeswaker?

Kaseto is weird, we'll have to see what more they spoil that would give him a reason to exist. I first was hyped, but then I realized Sidisi is a Naga.

Fiery Confulence is a really, really, really powerful spell. End of story.

Blade of Selves along with the myriad mechanic is good. Rune-Scarred Demon to find the sword, sword on demon to find all combo pieces is a really strong move. Other obvious things like Craterhoof Behemoth and the Sword or Avenger of Zendikar and the Sword are obvious. As long as they don't print something really stupid like "Creatures you control have Myriad", it should be a fun, yet powerful ability.

Mazirek is entirely bonkers. It's just bonkers, seriously. Cast Fleshbag Marauder, get four +1/+1 counters on each of your creatures. Cast Fleshbag Marauder with a Grave Pact in play, most likely get seven +1/+1 counters. On top of that, if I get it correctly, sacrificing a Persist creature should let you stack the triggers such that the thing comes back with the -1/-1 counter first and then have the +1/+1 ability of Mazirek resolve... right?
So yeah, Mazirek is my Go-To-Guy from this set so far.

November 2, 2015 3:28 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #36

Have I mentioned I'm in love with Kaseto yet?

November 2, 2015 3:36 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #37

The images hosted on WotC articles are a lot blurrier than normal ... WotC's quality is derailing even in their databases. I hope the actual cards don't show such a low quality.

Also! People! If you find a really high quality spoil in terms of resolution (IE above like, 300 x 400) do let me know! These are very useful for the database.

November 2, 2015 3:45 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #38

I'm a fan of U/R, just for context.

I like Mizzix of the Izmagnus.

I am intrigued by Fiery Confluence.

I really like Illusory Ambusher. It's a 4/1 with flash! And it draws you cards!

Also, new spoiler. enter image description here

November 2, 2015 3:47 p.m.

JohnnyBaggins says... #39

By the way, pleas let the Fiery Confluence be a cycle.

November 2, 2015 3:53 p.m.

I am also digging Kaseto. He can buff and hide himself for almost guaranteed commander damage. He's small and unassuming but he allows for big things to happen during combat... for you or an opponent swinging at another opponent.

November 2, 2015 3:54 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #41

erabel - I got it from twitter. Go look up Blake Rasmussen @blakepr on twitter.

November 2, 2015 4:03 p.m.

Remyth says... #42

My current dream is to cast Illusory Ambusher with Blasphemous Act on the stack...

November 2, 2015 4:05 p.m.

asasinater13 says... #43

at 20 mana kaseto is a one-hit kill with commander damage. that's a stretch, but 10 mana gives it two turn kills. 10 mana double strike gives it one hit kills.

November 2, 2015 4:06 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #44

Remyth Live the dream.

It will probably happen at some point, too. OP.

November 2, 2015 4:15 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #45

Also, what are people's thoughts on "Banshee of the Wall of Text"?

November 2, 2015 4:17 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #46

Wait... Does anybody think that Illusory Ambusher will be a replacement for Mulldrifter (at the very least, in casual)?

November 2, 2015 4:18 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #47

Femme_Fatale I think it's decent. You attack a player that can't block the original, then each opponent must choose to take 4 and discard a card or block a token. Then again, I'm only recently getting into commander.

November 2, 2015 4:22 p.m.

nayrash5 says... #48

I wish Banshee had evasion, as is, it looks like a lame Syphon Mind. Banshee is repeatable, but I don't see it sticking around for more than a handful of combats, and considering most decks I play against have a whole tonne of recursion, it has the potential to be a five mana do nothing. No thanks.

November 2, 2015 4:24 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #49

Ah, Syphon Mind looks way better.

November 2, 2015 4:25 p.m.

Remyth says... #50

DarkLaw: I don't see it as a replacement. One of the main reasons Mulldrifter is good is because it can be abused with flicker effects, etc. They just do different things. I certainly think Illusory Ambusher will see play (though likely not in many super competitive decks) but I really don't think there is much of a comparison to be made.
